The device has a small screen for viewing photos and a LCD that shows the temperature and the time. Two AA batteries power the photo viewer screen. A lithium battery, included with the device, powers the LCD. There is also a USB port that allows you to transfer photos to the device that can also be used to power the photo viewing screen. Although the screen is small, the photos look clear and the software that comes with it makes transferring photos easy.
The photo screen can be set to turn on and off at specific times of day. This helps extend the battery life and turns off the screen at night when you would not want the light from it.
It goes through the AA batteries very fast so I thought that I would power it with a USB cable. But a USB cable will get in the way of the stand that holds it up. Also, when plugging in the USB cable it would make the LCD screen go nuts. I would have to remove and reinsert the batteries to reset it. So I decided to use rechargeable AA batteries. The batteries just fit in the battery compartment and the battery compartment's door quickly broke.
