| davetd4's Full Review: Quicken Loans |
I was looking to Refinance my current mortgage since rates were so low, but it seems everyone was trying to do the same. A few big name banks just took my name and number but no one ever got back to me. So finally I gave Quicken Loans a try (Thru Lending Tree). My loan guy (John) was real helpful. He was patient and answered all my questions. He worked out all my numbers for me before we got started on the actual loan. I was able to go from a 30 year fixed to a 15 year fixed, lower my interest rate and even lower my payments. I still had 24 years left on my mortgage. I also rolled in all my closing cost. Quicken loan even closed at my residence at my a time of my choosing. I do have to say that I make more than the minimum payment every month to pay more of the principle which is why I was also able to lower the payments also. My existing balance was lower than normal. Quicken was very fast, gave me copies of all the paperwork and even has them online to view or print. The loan officers were very helpful. Whenever I called or emailed, they responded back right away. The binder Quicken loan provided at closing contained all the paperwork including the appraisal. On a side note, speaking with other people I know who are purchasing a home or refinancing, appraisals seem to be coming in lower than usual. Probably because banks are afraid to value the home higher in case of bad debt. My appraisal came in at an decent value, though I thought it could be higher, because they compared my home to three homes that were similiar but much smaller than mine. For example, they did not even include a half bath that I have in the appraisal. Plus my home is on a cul de sac, and a few other things which I thought should make the homes value higher. Thats my only real complaint, but otherwise, Quicken did a fabulous job and I will and have recommended them to friends and co-workers. The closing cost were average, not too high and not too low. I did not have any points charged to my loan.
