Breaburn is a huge complex in Lawrence in the general area of 21st and Post. If heading East from downtown on 70 at that point where you begin to see the signs for the State police post and you're coming up on the 1 mile mark for Post Road. Look to your right (south) you'll see a big Apartment complex. It sits right next to the State Police Post.
That's Braeburn.
If you frequent 70 I'm sure you've driven past it a thousand times and now you'll go .... "Oh yeah" when you see it. It's hard to miss if you're looking for it.
Man it was so long ago when I lived there... 20 years ago, Dang I'm getting old!

I went to what was called Indiana Central College at the time I started (1971) and was called Indiana Central University at the time I graduated (1976) and is now called University Of Indianapolis (or U of I).
Three different names but the same great place--and getting better all of the time!
I'm not sure where your apartment complex was located. Let me know where, and I'll drive past it and think of you next time I'm in the area.
My apartment was in a complex that was then called Rosedale Hills. Very reasonably-priced, and I got a lot of bang for the buck.
The entrance went right into this spacious living room, and the dinette area was visible from the front door (which was the only enter/exit door) as well when you looked right.
The kitchen was to the left (concealed by the wall of the living room across from the door.
There was a long hallway that led back to a huge bedroom.
Going down the hall to the bedroom, there was a bathroom and a closet on the right.
Hardwood floors all the way through, even though I added the area rug from the living room of the house where we lived from 1954 to 1967 to my living room while there.
I moved in during October of 1973 and moved out sometime in late August of 1976.
We had a washer and dryer for the entire apartment building (12 apartments) in the basement--which is where Mary shrunk my top! LOL
I have a lot of happy memories of that apartment--not to mention a lot of wonderful memories of college and the neighborhood. It was just a really great time. Not perfect--in fact, I'm writing a book that will touch on some of the things that weren't so great back then--but still wonderful!
Hoosier Hugs!

This was a good read AJ. Did you go to U of I?
I remember the Dutch Oven, I loved their food...too wild.
In 1974-1975 my family lived in Breaburn Apartments on the East side.
Now I'm about as far West as you are East.
Small world isn't it.
XOXO
