I sometimes think that there is only one true children's movie: THE WIZARD OF OZ.
Excellent list, BeastieGirl.

I remember the Sunday night Disney movies too- with Michael Eisner introducing the movie! Hahaha!!! Yeah, we got a VCR in the 80s and we rented all those old non-cartoon Disney movies- I loved them!
I bet if you still had those collector glasses you could get a pretty penny on e-bay for them!!!-Echo

Hey Echo!
I really enjoyed reading your list because it reminded me of watching "Wonderful World of Disney" every Sunday night with my little sister. VCR's wouldn't be in everyone's homes until the '80's, so you had to wait until Sunday night to see all those great, older Disney movies. (Or Saturday morning for cartoons).
I loved the Muppet movies too as a kid, but my Ma didn't particularly care for them. We still got to see them though, as my Dad would take us. We'd also go eat at McDonald's and get the special "collector's glasses" from the movies.
Excellent review!

When I looked at the dates the movies were released, I thought it was pretty amazing that more than half of them are over 40 years old- and they are still popular today. I'm guessing the more recent movies will be around for a while too.
Thanks for all the kind words!

As Becky said, I think it's great you're watching these films with your daughter. I wish my mom had done that with me when I was younger.
Anyway, I like this list. Not just because about half of your choices would make my own list, but also because you managed to include a couple excellent newer films along with the classics. Nice job!

kids were little (around the age of your daughter) we too were a Winnie the Pooh household. They both loved the Blustery Day especially. They were also entranced by Mary Poppins, which surprised me because it's so long. But they completely ate it up and would watch the entire thing. And I would get a nap - now that's beneficial for everyone!

I don't think you have to feel guilty. I'm sure your daughter will have fond memories of watching these lovable films with her mom.

That's too funny- I don't think I have ever seen Pippy, but I do vaguely remember reading the book. Thanks for commenting!
