Pros:When the unit works, it does a good job toasting.
Cons:The unit keeps breaking down - 4 times in 3 months!
The Bottom Line: After my experience, I would not recommend anyone buying a Krups' products. This is the worst experience I have ever had with company!
I will never buy a Krups product again! I thought they were supposed to make a quality product. What a joke! I bought this oven 1/19/09. It has been in the shop 3 times and will go in again tomorrow. Krups refuses to replace it without me paying the postage to ship back this defective product to them. Fortunately for me, I have an authorized repair shop 20 minutes from my home and I am retired, so have the time to take it in. I don't know what I would do if this shop wasn't nearby.

The first time the unit acted up was on 2/24/09. The unit came on sometime in the night all by itself and was on in the morning. The only way I could get it off was to disconnect the plug. I did not get the unit back from the repair shop until 3/20/09 because the defective part was on back order. The unit's electrical/electronic control panel had to be replaced. This would have been a $125 repair bill if not still under warranty.
The second time the unit malfunctioned was on 4/7/09, when about 5 minutes after toasting an item, I noticed the heating element was still on, even though the unit had beeped and the "off" bottom had "shut off". Again, the only why I could shut it off was to pull the plug, pressing the "off" buttom did nothing. This time the repair shop had to replace the control panel again as well as the unit's power supply. He said this bill would have been about $200.
On 4/10/09 the unit again would not shut off after toasting an item. This time the shop rewired something.
Today, 4/19/09, surprise, surprise! Again, after toasting an item the top heating element stayed on after the unit supposedly "shut off".
If the oven is allowed to completely cool off, the various functions on the oven ("toast", "bake", etc.) will work again, but I'm not sure it would completely shut down again. I'm afraid to mess with it, because I have read reviews that say this oven will catch on fire.
I'm sure the problem does not reside with the repair shop. They have been at the same location for at least 30 years and I have used them numerous times in the past without a problem.
Funny, all I've used this oven for so far is to toast bread and muffins and a couple of times on bake to reheat items. I haven't even used the convection part of it. I have no children that are messing with it.
The last toaster oven I had was a Cuisinart, but it lasted only 1 month past it warranty, so I thought I would try a Krups this time. What a mistake!
I think I'm going to have to go back to just a plain old-fashioned toaster. At least they used to last quit a few years!
