Jan-
you've got good taste... I think I've said that before, but now you're God so I'll repeat it.
Oh, heavens, I didn't say I am God, just that I received His Word in a dream vision pertaining to His most highly esteemed films of 2005! Other than that, we have no special relationship (that I know of).
I ordered Good Night and Good Luck on DVD, but haven't seen the rest. I'll try to, though!
Good time to catch up now-- there's very little currently out there worth seeing.

Marcelo-
Ciao, bello!
I DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD...so much as I believe in Morgan Freeman...
Freeman would make a pretty good deity...
...but I will agree with he/she/it when I admit I was a trifle disgusted by the final Oscar, even though maybe it was karma that cut off Crash's producer during her speech. Her Best Picture acceptance speech.
Yes, that was certainly some divine intervention, that interruption, in cahoots with a very rude Oscar director.
P.S. Great list! Although I was a bit confused that you listed Match Point among your disappointments and yet gave it an above average rating.
Thanks. Explanation: I had higher than average hopes for MP, after what amounts to a lot of hype about Allen's return to excellence and genius and all that. The film was fine, but others (and even Woody himself) have done the same stories better before (cf. Crimes and Misdemeanors).
-Cheers,
John

Her Best Picture acceptance speech. Speaking of speeches, as you're the almighty why don't you turn back the clock and let the director of Tsotsi continue his speech? He was awesome. Always,
Marcelo

Sue-
I didn't like Broken Flowers all that much, surprising myself with my own lack of enthusiasm.
God has odd tastes, you know. He also loves Guy Maddin films (especially Careful) and just about anything with Bill Murray-- especially Stripes and his turn on SNL.
Perhaps it was an Apathy Day.
The Lord hath many, many of those too.
I am very much looking forward to seeing The Squid and the Whale, for I share God's love of this genre.
You shall love it, or my name is Mud.
I bet God gets to see all the movies on opening weekend, in a theater. Maybe with some angels. Sweet deal.
He has His very own Entertainment Room with bean-bag sofas, 500.1 digital surround sound and omniscient projection. Very sweet.
Sue, who is not God, but would go if he/she invited her to a movie.
Don't accept the invitation-- it'll mean you're dead.

Ok, my dear Teresa. I, um, God will definitely take your Kong-plug under advisement, and when it comes out on cable, surely TiVo it until He is good and ready to take the time to view it.
After my Angela Hewitt sighting last week, I just took in another stupendous concert: Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares, the all female choir from Bulgaria, singing from my favorite CDs of late teens and early 20s. And they were on the same stage I'll be performing on next weekend, with my Paper Bag Players. The world is shrinking most favorably.
Ta!

Oh, c'mon, take off the critic's hat and revel in the silly, over-the-top, unbelievable "love" story-cum-CGI-fest that is 'King Kong', John! You can't say it's that bad if you ain't seen it yet!
Okay, okay, I know I'm being disrespectful to GOD. My sincere apologies.
