| deemarie's Full Review: Febreze Air Effects |
I have gone through many air fresheners in my day. Living with my parents, and having a room next to my brother -- I noticed many odors I wish I hadn't. I dealt with this by spraying some air freshener in his room, where a very harsh smell lingered for hours, and sometimes created a worse stench than what was originally present. In the years since then, and the years since I have moved away from home, I have dealt with another category of unique odors. From musty smelling apartments, to the fresh carpet smell that gives me headaches, to burned food, to grime in the garbage disposal or the garbage pail -- you name it, I have dealt with it.
I was never a fan of the harsh smelling fresheners, which were fake, and not at all what I was looking to fill my home with. So, upoin perusing the aisles at the grocery store, I stumbled upon Febreze Air Effects. The packaging is what originally caught my eye, but the promise of a fresh scent and eliminating odors is what drew me into buying it. So the first Febreze Air Effects I bought were the Meadows and Rain Scent, and the Lavender and Vanilla Comfort scent. I tried the Lavender first in my home, and it left a nice, light, lingering scent in my home. I absolutely adored it, and it seemed to sooth my frazzled mood at times. I could no longer smell any of the things I had before for hours after spraying. I had the same experienced with the meadows and rain, which to me just smells like a man-made rain smell -- but sitll very nice. The spray is a very fine mist, however, I have noticed that it tends to fall down from the air quickly, and can make your floor and your fabrics pretty wet -- so I try to use as sparingly as possible. I have bought nearly all of the scents since the first time, and I happen to like Spring and Renewal, and Linens and Sky the best. As great as it smells, after the smell of the Febreze fades, you are still left with the odors you had before. What you need to be careful of is that you need to eliminate the source of the odor, which the Febreze cannot do...it can just eliminate the stench it leaves in the air. I find that Lysol on some mildew-y areas, garbage cans, in the sink, in the bathroom help to kill the germs, and get rid of some sources of odors. When that is done with, the febreze leaves the house smelling fresh. To me, this is one of the better air fresheners on the market, but don't expect it to solve all of your odor problems.
