Watch Out, Trees! Here Comes Sharen!

The Bottom Line What is the opposite of a tree-hugger? Find out here!
I have a friend named Sharen.
My mom and I got to know her when we needed someone to help us with my dad when he was home on leave from the nursing home.
Although he passed away before this happened, our original plan was to bring him home for good, and Sharen would come and help out when necessary.
But Sharen hates--of all things--trees.
I know that she found this one tree to be a nuisance, because it had gotten tangled in her electrical wires, and she was afraid that it would end up snapping them.
It had become a kind of damned if you do and damned if you don't situation.
If the power lines snapped, Sharen would be held responsible for getting them fixed, even though the tree had been there long before she and her late mother had moved into the home.
She called the utility company to have them to come out and cut the tree, and they told her that this would be dangerous for their men to do.
She decided that she was going to hire in some people of her own to cut the tree--and was told by the utility company that, if they ended up damaging the wires in any way while cutting the tree, she would be financially-responsible.
So, it was a no-win situation--or, at least, a risky one.
Sharen also had a tree in her backyard that shed leaves all over the place for her to clean up--not to mention providing a place for birds to roost and poop all over her.
So, Sharen was talking to us, and she made this emphatic statement: "I hate trees! I just HATE trees!"
She said it as if she meant trees-in-general, but we assumed that she was talking about the two affecting her--to which she replied, "NO! I just hate TREES--ALL trees!"
She didn't even like to look at them when they belonged to someone else.
If she had her way, everybody in the world would have a bald yard.
She said that she actually didn't mind bushes--actually even thought that they were pretty.
However, she had no place for trees.
She reported that Kay (her sister) had just planted a bunch of tiny, new trees in her yard.
Kay, of course, loved trees.
Sharen warned her to get someone else to do her yard work at this point, because, if given a riding tractor, she just might feel compelled to become a woman with a purpose and use it to mow them all down!
"I don't know why Kay has to plant all of those damn trees!" she exclaimed. "But she says that she loves them. As for me, I hate trees. I just HATE trees!"
I'm afraid that my mom and I side with Kay and the poet, Joyce Kilmer.
At this time, I'm picturing this blockbuster movie that shows Sharen with a wild look on her face and armed with a chainsaw out to rid the world of trees!
Other than when it comes to trees, she seems to be a pretty sane individual.
