Until you pointed it out, I had no idea that Matchpoint was a Woody Allen film! I'm not a huge Allen fan, but when he's on I Really like 'em. I was blown away by Matchpoint. Interesting list, with one or two that I've put on the back burner. I'll have to get around to them! Wishing You Laughter, Q

The Constant Gardener was seriously outstanding. It was subtle and surprising--not to mention emotionally raw. Great movie.
Great list, too, but I haven't seen 'em all so I can't comment.

Almost agreeing (Reply to this comment)

For what it's worth I need to register my displeasure at yet another litany of praise for the unbearable, absurd "The Constant Gardener".
The most overrated movie of the year! I even saw "Me and you and everyone we know" and honestly not a single scene has stuck to my mind. I probably slept through most of this soporific disaster.
Funny how people can be at the opposite ends of the spectrum! The good thing is that we agree on most of the others.

In six years here... (Reply to this comment)

I have done one yearly best list and two yearly worst lists. I have simply found myself focusing on the films themselves instead of the "Best Of" lists. I've seen most of these films and think highly of them myself. I hope to catch up to the others, too. Thanks for sharing!
Sincerely, Pat

Later and later (Reply to this comment)

Well, I haven't gotten to a 2002 list yet.
I may have to review "Crash," which has earned a place on my list of worst best-picture-winning Oscars for this decade and will be difficult to displace. Its best screenplay award is even more appalling to me

Thanks from a fraidy cat.... (Reply to this comment)

I appreciate your list. I am a Pollyanna Fraidy Cat kind of movie goer so I often miss theater releases of excellent films. When I read Epinions reviews later by people like yourself that I have come to trust I end up seeing some of the films I was too scared to go see...it's kind of like having a mom who encourages you to eat your spinach...and then it turns out the spinach is good and good for ya.
Thanks, Mom.
