The Bottom Line was older.

I've concluded that every dating story I have is a tragedy. All they need is one missed chance.

The girl's real name is Ashley, but we'll call her Niccole because I distinctly recall her middle name being spelled that specific way.

Sophomore year. Niccole was a junior, and didn't really like me. I didn't really like her either. But my friend Marshall is a great friend, and didn't wish loneliness upon me, so he set us up. We began talking, and on the phone I randomly asked her, "So are we going to go out?" Cue another mickle error.

There wasn't much to the relationship. It lasted, once more, nine days. We wrote notes to each other and I listened on the phone as her father yelled at her for talking to me. It was an entirely unimpassioned relationship.

But Tom is a good boyfriend, so when he goes to Ariel's birthday party and Casey, the hottest girl in the school (and, quite possibly, the world) turns to Tom and says who are you you're hot and sits by him and moves her hand closer to his... Tom doesn't do a thing.

Of course, after Niccole and Tom broke up, Tom found out that Niccole had been cheating on him.

I love my life (1).

Niccole's termagant father willingly upset the relationship, and anticipating that Niccole would break us up, I called it off, in person (oh yeah, I'm cool like that), before she did. Aside from a Homecoming dance and kiss on the cheek, that was the end. She moved and I haven't seen or talked to her since (2).

I have a proclivity for dating cheating, lying, obfuscating women, and Niccole corroborated that. Though she was fairly attractive, she wasn't terribly intelligent nor funny, and blew my chances with the hottest girl in the school.

1. There is a bright side to this. At the ripe age of 15, I was very willing to have sex. Casey liked sex. Unprotected sex. We probably would have had sex. That would've exacerbated my life on catastrophic levels, aggravating my then-fragile mind and bringing great likelihood of pregnancy.

2. Colleagues of mine have informed of their sexual adventures with Niccole; apparently she was wild post-Tom. Why do I always miss out on these things?
