Next time they have one of these near me, I WILL get to it. It sounds like it was a wonderful time and I know it would be so cool to meet these people whose writing I enjoy.

Thank you for sharing your perspective, pops. Almost like being there :)

You know that I would have just loved to meet both you and your wife! Too bad that my dates didn't jive with the event. And Tom Barnes and Bryan were there? Now I am really jealous!

Thanks for sharing, Phil!

Since this has become the unofficial board for the M&G (sorry, Phil), I agree with you, Mike.

I think a lot of that had to do with the room layout. Had we been in a typical boring hotel ballroom, everyone would have said, "Ugh, typical hotel ballroom and gone around meeting their friends". As it was, we were in a cool place where it was hard to maneuveur. I finally gave up and grabbed a seat by the door so I could at least catch up with people once.

We're a victim of our own success!

it was a lot more crowded this time. I'm sure I'll be in New York again numerous times this year and I'm sure you'll make it down to Philly sometime so maybe we can hook up later.

I'll be tendering my own thoughts on the event as soon as I get some rest and recovering from drinking with Germans, Czechs and Poles for 9 days.

cheers,

You did a much better job both with visits and names. Although this was also my 2nd M & G, I really didn't talk to as many people as I would have liked. Great review here.

I really wanted to go to this meet and greet since I had come back home to visit family during my daughter's spring break, but things just got so busy and my elderly Dad and stepmother-in-law were not doing as well as I had hoped and I just couldn't make it. At least we did get into the city twice and saw two plays--Avenue Q and Sweeney Todd.

Hopefully there will be another NYC Meet and Greet at another time when I'm visiting.

I have pics that I have to email to Garrett and will try to do so this weekend.

It was great meeting you (finally). Sorry my picture taking duties didn't permit me to chat for very long.

All the best,

Paul

I have a Photobucket account, so I'll look into that. I'd like to have it so that a single link will go to a spot where all the pictures are located. My brief experience with Photobucket is that I'd have to create a link for each picture... I have around 20 of them. (There's a couple good ones of Phil and Jo!) I may work on this tonight.

Actually, the site Ashok suggests might be the best bet, so I'll check that out, too.

Bob, Garrett or someone posted pics from one meet and greet or maybe not?? But you can use www.photobucket.com for free. It's easy and then just post the link. Just an idea. I don't know if epinions wants it done in some formal way. jo

Bob,
You can open up a free account on this site, and upload them into an online album. You can then share that album by providing a website address.

Those meetings do sound like fun, and I have enjoyed your review a lot. It's fun to get your take on so many people that I know only through cyber space. I have a daughter living near N.Y., and if I am still here and in good health when they have another meet in N.Y., I am going to make a valient effort to be there. (I have met Bryon Carey and really enjoyed him and his wife)

Thanks for the kind words, Phil. I was looking forward to meeing you but didn't spend as much time chatting as I should have. Too many people to meet!

I enjoyed getting to meet and talk to you a bit!

There wasnt a lot of time to visit, but it was great to chat and I must say you are so freindly and seemed to be popular at the party - always smiling and very personable.

This was a great reveiw of the M&G

I figure if I leave a comment on every review saying something I don't have to write my own. You covered it all and without taking notes! I talked to Greg (he was there) for more than a few minutes. He's very nice and working hard on the site. His fiance talked to my husband. I hope they will still get married after she learns that epinions really is a 24 hour a day job.

You won at rafting- hands down. I was impressed. I expected your wife to have dark hair. She's really nice- I do hope we meet up some time.

And finally since you are the 3rd person who has mentioned my black leather jacket (didn't anyone look down?:) Just for the record for those wondering I was wearing bottoms and they were black suede pants. Ok just wanted to clarify that I wasn't just wearing this jacket.

Great job Phil. Can't wait for the next one. jo

We needed to chat longer (Reply to this comment)

I apologize. I was just trying to make sure everything was going ok and didn't talk deeply enough with many people I wanted to.

I wanted to show him my autographed playbills from wrestling's Bruno Samartino, Haystacks Calhoun, Killer Kawalski, Buddy Rogers and a few others. Truth is my mother threw them out along with my baseball cards but I did want to share some wrestling stories with him.

We need to have this conversation.

I'm impressed that you remembered everyone's user-names. If I were to write one of these, it would not be nearly so accurate.

Sorry that I didn't get to meet MamaRocks! Where was your wife hiding?

As for my profile pic, I don't believe in false advertising. I looked just like that at the M+G, complete with drink in hand. :)

Nice meeting you as well... not enough time with so many people and only 2 min 37 sec.

There is a pic of the Epidolls chorus line on my profile page. Once everyone gets to see that, I'll switch it out for others I took. That one isn't the greatest, but it works... 9-)

Again, nice spending a few moments talking with you. Witch we had more time as well. 8-)

to a Beatles fan, "Apple" = "Abbey Road" (Reply to this comment)
by bob_tomato
I know you SAID "Apple", but I'm pretty sure what I heard was "Abbey Road", so there was nothing lost in the translation... I'm looking forward to hearing the new music once it comes out.

I'm glad that we got to spend a few minutes talking - a party like that needs to go all day to get enough time to spend with everyone, but they'd probably end up hospitalizing half the group with alcohol poisoning and the other half with severe laryngitis from talking so much

Hope we can do it again soon - and if - no - WHEN we come back to New York, you and your wife will need to at least join us for dinner one night. I'd love to talk more with you again!

Who has pictures? (Reply to this comment)
by aashok
Phil,

This had to be the best MnG yet !! I met so many people from the first NYC, and the Boston MnGs. But I also got to meet many members for the first time.

When I saw the big rigs already in action (Paul & Andy), I decided to shelf my camera. I did get a few pictures toward the end. I gave my flash memory card to Andy, so he could post the pictures as needed. But I can't wait to see Paul's shots.

Regards,
Ashok

You are so sweet to write about me! I am so happy to have met you! And of course, your wife is fantastic, but that only makes sense since you are too.

I'll be in touch. We will dine together and try to add Rachel's to the database! LOL!!!

Nice write-up, Phil! And it helps fill in the blanks for the 2.5 hours I had to miss on account of performing elsewhere. Damn... I'm still kind of bummed I could only be there so briefly, but it was a lively 45 minutes! And great to see you again-

It was a genuine pleasure to meet you. Would that these things could last for 15 hours instead of only 3 so we'd all have more time to get acquainted.

Hope to see you again sometime.

you said...
"A few minutes of were spent with Boudica. Again with just three hours and so many people, I only witch we had enough time to talk more."

I think you meant to say . . . .no...wait a minute..! I am _not_ falling for that trap..!!

. . . ...:supernaturalsmiliemoment:...

you said...
"I kept tripping over strollers and spilling drinks on babies. I don't know if it was always the same one. By nights end the baby was reaching out for my glass."

Contributing to the delinquency of minors...I am shocked..!!

Very nicely said.
