Sounds like a plan! Framingham and Chesnutt Hill are pretty accessible to most of Massachusetts, so I think they are good choices.

Oh great! Well I don't think we have to go far - depending on how many of us maybe a place like the Cheesecake Factory in the Atrium in Chestnut Hill. Also if we wanted to drive out to Framingham there's a great Chinese restaurant with a room on the 2nd floor. They don't charge for the room and it's usually quiet up there. We'll put out word in August or so and talk about a date, time, etc. Sound good? jo

Not to worry. I have a car, so I can drive anywhere in MA. Not that I am suggesting this, but parking around Fenway is not actually that difficult depending on the time of day.

Great - I'll put you on the list. I agree - there is no way I'll go into Fenway. I know I could take the train but...
I'll pick up Becky if I have to rather than trying to park in Boston or going via the T. The thought makes me nervous! jo

I don't mind going anywhere in Mass. I'd prefer outside of the city for the commuting reasons. I tend to hate driving inside of 128 but it's tolerable. However, once you get around the Fenway area it can get pretty crazy. Ideally, I'd probably end up driving to Natick or Waltham and taking the bus or train in.

I agree. Ok after the summer I'll post it on the message boards and maybe you :) can write a little essay inviting people? or not but we'll put it on our bios. I'll be on/off between graduations, showers, wedding plans, travel plans. etc. but as I said put out the feelers now to the people you know in New England. I'll get your phone number etc. after the summer and we'll talk. jo

If there aren't that many of us, we wouldn't even have to book a private room. If we just met a restaurant/bar in the middle of the day, we'd probably have the place to ourselves.

I'm leaving comments (well one) on people's reviews from MA - so far just Kjell but there really are a lot of us. Maybe in September we'll talk and put it on our bio. We'll see who responds. We can always get a room in a Chinese restaurant. How does that sound? jo

It would probably be extremely expensive, but I think you can rent out the 600 Club or whatever they call it these days.

Yeah, Red Sox fans are a little nuts in that way (and in other ways, as well). However, I know from giving tours of Fenway that Yankees fans are extremely rude.
If you show up on the day of the game, sometimes they release tickets at the last minute, or you could try for standing room. Scalpers are evil.

Fenway (Reply to this comment)
by davidmanning
I've been to Fenway, once, and I'd go back if the scalping wasn't so ridiculously overpriced.
Fortunately, I own very little Yankees merchandise, so I'm "safe" as long as I adhere to the one main rule: never taunt the opposing team's fans in their own stadium. Red Sox fans around here don't seem to understand that.

You better duck, David because Becky and I won't be able to do the M & G during the playoffs. Actually right now I'm pretty angry with the Red Sox and Johnny Damon. The team that won the World Series is gone except for Jason and we hear that Roger Clemens may come back! jo (PS you are welcome to walk into Red Sox land and join us. We'd love to have you as long as nothing you have on has the Yankees logo.)

Bob you did flit:) and it's good you didn't look down. I hate when my husband does that. He doesn't anymore since I threatened a divorce! I quote Dr. Phil who says, "If you wouldn't do it with your wife standing next to you then don't do it." I didn't get to meet your wife though. Next time. jo

That could work. As long as it doesn't conflict with any Red Sox playoff games.

...how I managed to miss this for so long but was glad to find it.
As a married man (whose wife was with me), I couldn't check out the women carefully enough to tell which were wearing suede pants and which weren't. I feel safe commenting on a jacket; pants are more perilous.
Great to meet you, even if I did flit from person to person the whole time. I agree... these need to be at least an hour longer.

So I'm Gentle Ben, only really tall. Got it.
If only I sang in tune, I wouldn't have wandered off and had much beer with the other beer-positive meet-goers.

You know once you meet someone it is hard to remember what you thought they would look like but I didn't picture you as tall never mind very tall. I also I think pictured you as looking more formal or stern perhaps and actually you looked and were very friendly. jo

That's a good idea. Maybe we can organize a Boston Meet and Greet to coincide with the official Vegas one this summer for people who can't make it to the city of sin.

Have the pics, now have to email them. I made the mistake of scanning them to the Kodak Picture Perfect CD thingie at Sam's Club and have had trouble installing the SW so that I can email them to Garrett for posting at the site.
Will NEVER do that again! EVER!
The Sam's Club CDs using the Fuji system are for more user friendly! LIve and learn, except my mistake is time consuming.
I enjoyed meeting you and your hubby. We had an interesting chat :)
I see your use of the exercise machines you review pays off! :)
I do have to head back to Iraq, but only for about 30-45 days, although I'm hoping they see the lack of real necessity in that now that I'm here.
Will keep you posted. Have to go to my Air National Guard unit this weekend for the regularly scheduled drill weekend, and may find out something there.
Stay well and be on the look out for my review of my new camera. I want to learn its intricacies a little more so that I can do a really bang-up job on the review.
Paul
