head up to the White Mountains, be sure to give me a shout first. I'll take you on a tour of the watering holes this part of the land. Tuckerman Brewery just moved to a couple miles from my house, we found it today by accident. Have to find out if they have tours. Every afternoon seems really good :-)

Best of luck. Although I disagreed with going into Iraq, you know I totally support the soldiers who are just following the orders as they swore to. Bless you!

I found the shutter response time, and the auto focus on your Nikon, to be blistering fast compared to my Kodak DCS SLRc.
Some day...maybe I might convert....

When you get back, maybe we can have a Nikon/Canon shootout on the Intrepid ??!! Email the pictures to Howard, who can then decide on the winner....

Ash,

Sorry, I didn't know about your car accident. Hope everything turned out OK? How'd you like shooting with the D200?

I liked that despite its power, your Canon was lighter than my Nikon. Who says weight doesn't matter? It sure does after a long day of hiking and shooting.

Let's try to get together sometime after I get back from the desert and go shooting. Film and digital.

Cheers,

Paul

Robin,

Thanks for the comment. I'm sure you'll make one of these one day. They are a lot of fun and the best part is meeting folks you had previously only known by their writing.

Keep posting, so I'll have something to read, rate and comment on.

Sara,

you did miss a good time. I'm sure you'll make one of these in the near future. Thank you for your kind words about my Dad. I think of him (and miss him) many times every day.

Paul,
I have to admit that I was real kranky when I arrived at the ESPN Zone 1 hr late. I had a fender-bender at the entrance to the Lincoln tunnel, and I was not looking forward to the $500 insurance deductible.

However it was all worthwhile because I got to meet you, Jo and many other members for the first time. These events emphasize that we are a real community (at times dysfunctional but real nonetheless). Brian Carey said it best: we are all very complex people, and someday I hope I can meet other members such as Howard Creech, Tom on-the-clock & oldcomixfan.

Thanks for your kind words, however I insist that photographers who shoot film, are by default better and more evolved photographers. Digital junkies like myself take hundreds of shots, and pray that at least one came out in focus with the right exposure and flash settings :)

Here's wishing for your safe return.
Regards,
Ashok

PS: I gave my CF card to Andy. So I cannot post any pics online till I get my card back from Brisbane :(

I mean envious. Some day I will get to one of these meet and greets, too. Thank you for writing about it. Deep sign. I hope the link to some photos will get posted where we call can see what we missed.

Hope you get to come back home soon.

Someday I'm going to make it to a Meet and Greet.

Just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear about your father, but I'm glad you're still safe. Stay safe on the rest of your tour in Iraq! I'll be thinking about you and sending prayers.

Caroline,

Yes, it was a camera. Actually, both were. One film and the other (and newer) was digital.

Hope to see you again at the next one...

Sounds like a beer filled photo snapping good time was had by all in NYC.

My thoughts and prayers will go with you as you return to Iraq. I have an 'almost son' over there and of course prayer is something that I continue to do. God Bless Paul.......kath

Thanks Jo,

Just remember, I'm heading back to a violent and unsettled place and things there are quite different than here.

The rule of law is an unknown to the folks there and is a concept they have trouble grasping.

I'm hoping I'll be here in the States when Epinions does another MnG in Boston. I'd make that trip for sure if I was around.

Keep posting reviews. We have to keep the new corporate owners busy reading.

Geez Sunni,

YOu sure know how to choke a guy up! Every time I read one of your comments, especially after I write about family and friends, I wind up teary eyed. That's not supposed to happen to soldiers.

Then again, we can be some of the most sentimental folks around, so I hope that's a good thing. I hope I never grow too cold or insensitive to my surroundings that I lose all contact with human feelings.

Someday, at another MnG, I hope we have the opportunity to meet.

Many thanks for your continued support.

No conspiracy on my part! MOre like major STUPIDITY! I made the huge mistake of scanning the images from the MnG onto KODAK Perfect Tocuh CDs. HUGE MISTAKE!

Hard to install and email. Will try to re-scan to a more user friendly CD for emailing.

Thanks for the comments. Check with AASHOK. He's smarter than I am, especially with digital!

Thanks Phil,

When I get back from the desert this next time, I'll send a note. Maybe I can hope over to LI and we can have dinner. After all, I am a little familiar with the place having spent my formative years there!

Re: In My Thoughts (Reply to this comment)

Hi Mike,

I had two cameras with me; the brand new digital Nikon D200 with the extra battery pack/vertical grip (the SB-D200) (that helps give it its large size) and my more familiar F100 with battery pack/vertical grip. I shot both digital and film and made the HUGE mistake of having the images scanned to the KODAK PERFECT TOUCH CDs. What a nightmare-hard to install on a computer.

I am truly glad your sister made it home OK and in one piece. I hope, for her sake, that decides AGAINST staying in the Army, mainly because they are taking the brunt of the deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. This is, obviously the direct and immediate result of us NOT having ENOUGH troops in the Regular Army.

Thank you again for arranging for the after hours entertainment. It was a great capstone to an already great day!

Stay well.

and though I, like many former pro-Bush supporters (I was never one of course.) and even current Bush supporters, support your following through on your duty, wish you well and just think that

the colors don't run

the world

let alone lie and act above the law.

As always,

Wishing you a safe trip to and from.

I suspect a conspiracy.

Everyone talks of 'pictures' but I have yet to see the URL, the link, the hushed word to 'look here for the good ones...' ( Although at the Member Center page I see I still have a 'last chance to make the NYC meet-n-greet.' . . .my gawd, talk about old news..! )

Yes, I suspect the cover-up is already in full swing. These are 'conspiratorial' times after all.

I too would wish you godspeed on your safe return to 'the Sandbox' and home again.

Paul,

It was great to see you again here in our backyard. That was a mighty big camera. I wasn't sure if it was digital or not. Actually, it looked like the type of camera my folks used back when I was a kid!!

I'm also awful glad you made it to karaoke.

I thank you for your kind words regarding my sister (who made it home safely after her tour of duty and hopefully will be checking out for good this summer) and I wish you Godspeed.

Take care of yourself and us.

Your fellow New Jersey-an :)
