Good experiences with Discount Tire

The Bottom Line Recommended, at least in the Dallas TX area.

I'm really shocked by all the bad reviews. My first experience with Discount Tire was in 2002, when I was unhappy to find a screw in one of the tires of the car I had just bought 1200 miles ago. These were wide, low expensive sporty tires too. I went to DT to weigh the options and the tech only took about five minutes to tell me that the screw had not penetrated, and there for no repair was necessary. DT did not charge me at all, not even labour for pulling the wheel and inspecting the inside of the tire (which I did see them do, as I eagerly watched through the window from the waiting area).
Friends recommended DT as well, and just today I used them again- this time for a full new set of tires (and BTW, that one with the screw made it all the way). I found the online shopping and appointment-making process to be easy and user-friendly, and the service from the shop was friendly, fast and excellent. I only have two niggles, one that the tech handed me the adapter for the lock-lugs instead of putting it back in it's place in the tool-tray in the trunk (he got it from there so he should know it goes there), and the other is that the tires only had about 30 PSI (46 is more in the right neighbourhood for this application) in them when I checked once I got home- but that I can shrug off because it seems like pretty standard practise for tire shops to assume that you want a soft cushy marshmallowy ride and don't mind the ponderous handling that comes with it, even if you bring them a sportscar!
Overall, I have no problem recommending Discount Tire.
