Late to the Party, Late to Review

The Bottom Line okay, so where do we go from here?

I suppose there is much controversy after the last meet and greet in New York. There are rumours which apparently I am alleged to have started. First off, let me clear the air. I have made full reconciliation with Krissieliz over that ugly D.C. beer misunderstanding. However, it should be noted that I can not be the father of the child she is carrying. I took a vow of celibacy many years ago. I remember it distinctly because it was the same night I gave up alcohol.

Now that we have clarified that matter let's get down to the business of the event. I took a New Jersey transit train up to New York that morning. I arrived in New York about an hour before the event was scheduled to start. I stopped around the block at the Heartland Chophouse to enjoy a craft brew. I remembered the rather subpar quality of beers served at ESPN Zone and came up with the diabolical plan of smuggling craft beer into the event. I ordered a growler of the oatmeal stout and stashed it in my backpack. So now I will be stamped with a rep as the guy who smuggled beer into an open bar. Guess it proves that I'm dedicated to craft beer.

It was lovely being greeted at the door by Tomiko and Chrystal. I don't know what they're feeding those female epinions employees but it's working. Then I began running into a variety of epinions writers. This event was much larger than the last event in New York. I was almost initmidated by the number of people. I apologize in advance to many people I didn't meet and greet or only got to say a casual hello to. It was great seeing Phil (Popsrock) and Mike (Speeddemon again. I was also excited to see the legendary Kristina once more. No meet and greet is complete without a hug from Kristina.

I was expecting DavidManning to be there. I didn't realize that he was taller than the center for the New York Knicks but at least the guy knows his beers. Bryan Carey was also there. It was cool to have a few beer geeks at the event. We could commiserate over the lack of craft beers. It was also absolutely essential that I share my stash with Paul (Colonialpara). The man got a brief respite from Iraq but had to go back shortly after. We both went overseas after the event but I drew a much better deal. Godspeed, brother, and I still owe you a beer.

At some point the event starts getting hazy. It must have been something in the New York air. I remember many of the folk there. We had Joubert, Pearannoyed, BobTomato, Boudica, Jo.com, I think I bribed Garrett with a cup of craft beer but I'm not sure what I bribed him for. As I say, things were getting out of hand.

There was a conversation with Mike Holmes. It's always great to meet a fellow jazzhead. I was reacquainted with Tombarnes and Caroline (Dizzybint) who met in D.C. I got to meet Liz (Brendan2). I would have liked to talk to her more since she's a fellow Philly denizen but it was late in the event and we were being shooed out.

After the event, I ended up at Stouts with Bryan, Tom and David. We consumed beer and discussed a variety of topics. I had to catch a train to go home so that was the end of the line for me. It was a fun filled event. I was happy to see many faces again and to meet a few new people. Were I not starting rumors and then rueing the implications of said rumors, I may have met more people. You have to understand that I had my first beer ever on this afternoon so I was a bit out of character.

I heartily recommend going to these events if they are in your area or you are able to travel. It is a lot of fun. Kudos to the epinions staff for throwing another great party. Although if they come back to New York they better plan on finding bigger digs. I think the 160 people that are destined to show up next time will be too many to fit in that small room.
