Top Ten Ways to Give Your Child the Best Chance In Education (and Life)

A better education (and thus a better life) doesn't happen at school, it happens at home. Teach by example, teach your child to excel and they will.

Thanks for your comment!

I liked having summers off from teaching, but I always had to find a job to supplement the money... so I was either working on lesson plans for the next year, going to seminars and workshops, or working my part-time job! :)

Have a great day!

All excellent advice. Also, my husband is a teacher and many people do not realize how hard teachers work....... the late nights and weekends grading papers and exams, writing exams, giving extra help, supervising field trips and extracurricular activities, purchasing supplies, serving on committees, and so on.

(of course, having those summers off can be nice!)

Thanks moviebuff, I agree.. home-schooling is a great option for those dedicated (I'm certainly not an NEA sycophant).

JVandegr... Here's how I found this... I went to the Education section, scrolled down to the bottom and clicked "Advice for Parents of Students." That took me to a page with these options -- General Education Advice for Parents, Student Allowances, What Should I Do if My Student is Unhappy?, What Should I Know About Care Packages?
What Should I Know About Elementary Education?
hat Should I Know About Homeschooling?
What Should I Know About Primary Education?
What Should I Know About Secondary Education?
What Should I Know About Special Education
What Should I Know Preschool Education?
How to Help Your Child Choose a College
How to Purchase Educational Materials for Your Child

I just clicked on "General Advice"... Should I instead put it in "What Should I know About Secondary Education"?

I want to make sure this review is in the right place, and any help would be appreciated!

Thanks a bunch,

Jen

You've done an amazing job here - this should be of much benefit to a lot of parents. But is it in the right cateogry? This is the college and universities category of education. Perhaps it would be found more easily somewhere else. In any case, keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Jon

Personally think the best education for a child is to be home-schooled because they can just learn so much better in less time, and I would think most kids would want to be home schooled because the majority of kids hate school.
