The Host Gives Some Love: The Motley Kid's Hall Of Fame W/O

Apr 12 '06 (Updated Apr 14 '06)

The Bottom Line These are some great writers, right here. You should give them a read if you haven't done so already.

This will be good for a laugh. I may be the first and only entrant to my own write off.

Ok, I’m not going to do anything snazzy here, just a quick list of the members who rock my world with either their writing skills, humour, personality or a combination of all those things. I have been at this site since December 16 2003, and have stuck around so long because of the mostly supportive community, and the plain and simple fact that I love writing! I have read/rated reviews by a lot of different members, and haven’t really had the chance to tell the world about some of my favourite writers on Epinions.

So without further dithering on my part (we’ll see), these are a few of the people who have inspired, entertained or generally made my time here that much sweeter…

Well, boys and girls, I think we shall kick this party off with a bang, and what better way to do that then inducting my all time favourite Lead on Epinions, the queen of rock herself, Shelly. While rock music is her forte, she can effortlessly shift gears and review games one day, and books the next (she even has a nifty Top Reviewer hat in Books!) all the while retaining her brutally honest and informative approach to writing. An added bonus for me is, Shelly has reviewed a large amount of 80s rock n roll, and as a result, she has helped me avoid some real dud albums and steer me towards the gems of the decade.

From what I understand, Liz has had a bit of a rough life, and that saddens me, because I genuinely feel she has a heart of gold. Every time I get a comment on my reviews from Liz, it always perks me up reading it because she is so positive, delightfully quirky & complimentary of my writing. Not only is she a terrific person, her reviews are top notch also. Whether it is movies, music (she has covered a large amount of Beatles related products, with her passion for the band shining brightly) or games, her reviews provide an entertaining insight on why or why not the product rules. She doesn’t write as much as she used to, so it makes you cherish every new review of hers all the more.

This guy should be compulsory reading for anyone trying to make waves in the music category. While David is far from what I’d call the most talkative member of Epinions, his reviews leave no stone (or song, rather) unturned. The detail he uses to describe each song really does make you feel like you know the album (which is his goal, according to his profile) he reviewed. He is extremely good with his words, and he comes up with innovative ways to present his reviews (his album value system is legendary).

Mike is a guy I hold in high regard for his honesty, superb writing & I see him as my ‘Funk Professor’, if you will. When it comes to Prince, nobody’s opinion holds more value to me then Mike’s. Even when I read his reviews on artists I have no interest in, Mike holds my attention, and displays how to write a real review. Simply put, I respect this guy a lot!

brad

I really enjoy Brad’s writing, no matter what the topic is, politics, tennis, mobile phones or even the currently shabby music industry. He’s said it himself, he has his share of enemies on Epinions, but he never, ever backs down from them, sticking by his beliefs regardless of what they say. Brad has strong, intelligent opinions, and as long as he keeps writing his thoughts at Epinions, I’ll keep reading them.

Elaine, I had to save her for last. First and foremost, she has a unique, zany writing style, which never fails to keep me amused (and usually chuckling uncontrollably). She has quickly become one of my favourite members to read on Epinions. The thing that amazed me most about Elaine was her big heart. I have never come across anyone on Epinions that has made such an effort to get to know me. I’m just some 17 year old schmuck, why an adult with two kids and a husband would bother talking to a teenager is beyond me, but she does & I’m forever grateful for that. I was especially touched when she emailed to check if I was affected by Cyclone Larry when he ran amuck down here in Australia. That meant a lot to me…

I decided on a nice, compact list for my entry, but there are NO rules, you could write a 5,000 word article on one member if you want, or even 500 words for 20 Epinionators, it’s your call. Read this then join in. Everyone is more then welcome to take part in this write off, so come on, lets have some fun, hey?

Finally, I just want to close by saying, if you were not mentioned above, don’t worry. Everyone who I have placed on my trust list is basically an inductee, and to go through you all would be a heck of a task. Just keeping it short with the above members was demanding enough. They all deserve their own book.

Hope you join the party!
