bleem, the PSX emulator that has launched lawsuit after lawsuit has finally bit the dust. www.bleem.com now shows a picture of its tombstone.
Why the lawsuits? Maybe because of what bleem did. It could not only emulate PSX games but in some cases do it better than the PSX could. It had it's bugs One annoying one being that it could not play all games or could not play them well. A bug that I think would have been fixed if bleem had been left alone.
Soon after bleem came out Sony started with the lawsuits. After two of them failed they then unfairly pressured stores to not carry bleem. I think even with bleem opening up an online store that this was the final blow.
Bleem had other problems as well. A PC capable of running bleem needed a good graphics card and a speedy processor. Bleem was not compatable with all graphics cards or operating systems. The software had its glitches. But it launched a wave of other PSX emulators. ADRI PSX, Connectx VGS, PSXE, etc.
Before Bleems demise they had just released Bleemcast for MGS. Had it been finished and shipped sooner maybe bleem would still be here.
Despite Sony's best efforts bleem has survived two lawsuits that I know of. It was only when Sony started to whine and bully stores saying they could "be damaging their relationship with sony" should they carry bleem that bleem started to gasp for air.
Sonys greed has put an end to a promising emulator.
