PURPOSE
I purchased Windows XP because my computer was running bad with many problems on Windows 98. It got to the point where I had to reformat my hard disc because Explorer had some problems. After I did this, I could not get all the correct drivers to run my computer. This is why I bought Windows XP.

Yes, my computer, once XP was loaded, had all the drivers it needed for my every day computing, from games to internet. I have even discovered its reliability that I have never had in a computer. Under Windows 98, I experienced crashes too often. Even when I first purchased this computer, but never once has XP locked up on me. Furthermore, when other programs lock up, XP really shows its in control in the way you are able to exit the program without any other problems.
Other Good Qualities
Speed is the most surprising difference. My computer was pretty fast under the shaky control of Windows 98, but this is really fast. Installing software, updating drivers, and doing regular clean up are all easier and done quicker. Boot up time is cut in half on my machine. This really indicates to me how well this operating system was put together. In addition to all of this, I like the look and layout options.
Warning!
My scanner is an older model than my computer the Visioneer One touch 5300 usb. This enlightened me to the fact that some older hardware are not compatible. I recommend checking this on your hardware before purchasing this product.
