Oh, to have one more afternoon of free-form DJing and a 6-pack of Mountain Dew at WCCX!

some observations...

Anti....

cipation is not fun. Nope, not at all.

Hand clap percussion is awesome.
Razor sharp eight notes are awesome.
Emphatically cool vocal delivery and production is awesome.

These observations have turned out to be less than awesome. I'm sure I meant to say something gnarly and, well, awesome, but....

hmmmm

I don't suppose HoJo's gonna pop up in the top twenty? that would be sweet.

still less than awesome. perhaps I should go to work now and squander my mediocrity there rather than waste it on such a fabulously -errr- awesome list.

yes, perhaps that would be best

There's an interesting tradition of Don't Leave Me / Kiss Off songs. These are more than just Kiss Off a la Violent Femmes. These show both sides of the story.

My only fear is that the Postal Service's Nothing Better will one day sound as tired to me as Human League's Don't You Want Me has become--not that I don't still like it. (Personally, one of the few Human League songs that still brings me unreserved joy is Louise. And maybe Together in Electric Dreams.) For now, Nothing Better still makes me ecstatic.

I've never been able to get that damn cow out of my head.

What an awesome 20 songs. Kudos for adding Toto to the list (although I'll admit "Rosanna" is not on my list of favorites), kudos for recognizing the absolute genius that is Jackson/Jam/Lewis (Jimmy & Terry are geniuses, but they do their best work when Janet is involved), kudos for "Don't You Want Me" (next time I do karaoke, I NEED to do that song), and kudos for being the mount of musical trivia that is Paul Lorentz.

Nice job.

And there is my Crowded House. Hooray (and a-freakin'-MEN to every single word about that song and Neil in general. Excellent choice of song, too, that is truly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life by anybody.

This whole list in general was great. "Shout" (one of my favorite Tears For Fears songs), "Sweet Dreams" (one of my favorite songs ever, I still recall first hearing that song on the radio as a kid), "Straight Up" (I remember a babysitter I once had whose daughter adored Paula Abdul, so I think of being at that house whenever I hear "Straight Up"), "Total Eclipse Of The Heart"...just lots of fantastic songs listed here.

Can't wait for the final 20. I'm intrigued.

Angela

-By the way, you're welcome regarding the WOT thing. I thought I had you in there already, but was surprised to see I didn't, so I remedied that quickly.

....could easily be in the top 20 for me. Never got tired of Rosanna back in the good ole days, that's for sure!
