Tony Little Gazelle WHICH ONE TO BUY? I'LL TELL YOU

Apr 20 '06

The Bottom Line You always need to find exercise equipment that you find to be fun to do and not a chore otherwise it will become a coat rack sooner or later.

I spent 2 1/2 months researching all types of Gazelles. So I hope to make it a lot easier for others. There are so many types to choose from so I broke them down...

Gazelle Edge - Gives you no kind of work out because there is no tension. You will not even break out in a sweat. Flimsy model
PRO-Folds
CON-Flimsy/No resistance

Gazelle Freestyle - Is the same as the Edge except it is better built and a lot sturdier (It says it has duel action split suspension: this is NOT the same as having PISTONS)
PRO-Folds/Sturdy/Free leg motion
CON-No resistance

The Gazelle Freestyle Elite- This was a great gazelle but they only made so many and sold out. (This one is discontinued)
PRO-Doesn't matter (discontinued)
CON-Discontinued

Gazelle Crosstrainer Pro - THIS IS THE ONE TO GET!!!! It is sturdy & solid. Has 2 levels of difficulty. Folds for storage. Large range swinging motion. Quiet w/the pistons disengaged. With the pistons some noise (very little!!!) Great resistance!
PRO-Folds/Sturdy/Pistons/Free leg motion
CON-Can't think of any

Gazelle Power Plus - This is also a good machine. It also has the pistons that give 2 levels of resistance. It is the bulkiest of all the machines and does not fold.
PRO-Sturdy/Pistons/Free leg motion
CON-Bulky/Overpriced!

I have either tried out these machines or have spoken to people that own them or called and spoke to the manufactures. The most important aspect to look for in one of these is making sure that they have pistons. The pistons is what makes the machine have degrees of difficulty. If you do not have the pistons it is just like walking on air in space which yeah that sounds cool but you get no kind of workout at all!

GET THE CROSSTRAINER PRO. I BOUGHT MINE ON HSN FOR $240.00 (FREE SHIPPING & HANDLING)

I am a somewhat active person and after my first work out (45 minutes) I felt great & worked up a great sweat but you are being forewarned...the next day my calf, thigh & butt muscles hurt so bad that I had to wait almost a week to use it again. Mind you I meant to only do 15 to 20 min. on it but I enjoyed it so much I just didn't want to stop. Also I would like to let you know when you first get off after your workout it will feel a little funny walking but that feeling will go away after a few minutes. After my aches & pains went away I was right back on it and WOW what a great machine! I have lost 9 lbs. in 2 weeks! The Crosstrainer Pro is the funniest exercise machine I have ever used. OK now back to things you should know... It does fold for storage but it is slightly heavy and the wheels roll some while you are trying to fold it. The monitors I don't believe are accurate but they do give you a general idea. The delivery of my machine was quick. Assembly is pretty easy, just make sure to follow the directions. I put mine together in about 45 min. to an hour all by myself. Using the pistons makes a big difference. For someone just starting to workout or even a somewhat active person I would recommend not using the pistons at first and work your way up to using them. If you are in tip top shape and very active you should use the pistons and it will give you a great workout and challenge.

I hope that anyone that took the time to read this review found it helpful. I wish someone would have written this before me but then again I learned a lot.
