The Bottom Line Computer Geeks is a great place for purchasing this kind of occasionally new, sometimes refurbished equipment. Shop carefully and know what you are buying, and you will not be disappointed.

Computer Geeks Discount Outlet is a six year old operation out of Oceanside California. The specialize in closeout and refurbished equipment sold at good discount prices.
Purchase Experience
My most recent purchase experience with them has been the selection of two HP Pavillion Celeron based PCs. These machines were both 700 mhz processors, one with DVD ROM, the other with a CD-RW. Included in the shipping boxes, which were well packed with no loose items, were driver CDs which had the drivers for all the components of the box, including their advanced keyboards (this CD could have been labeled other than on the sleeve, but this is a minor quibble). The machines were clean and looked like new. I had no problem installing operating systems on them and getting them up and running. Each of the machines was purchased for less than $250.
Computer Geeks rates their equipment on a grade scale, which is available on each product page. These were Grade A, which means they could have small imperfections. i could find none on these machines.
Site Performance
The Site is fast and responsive, with a good search utility. All products on the site are marked to state if they are refurbished, brand new, used, Geek Specials, and more. This helps you make an informed decision about the equipment you want to purchase.
Another very good part of the site is the listing of product requirements at the bottom of ever page. This way, you are certain to know what you will need to
Computer Geeks also offers various 'kits,' such as barebones machines and multimedia kits, for you other intrepid PC builders out there. They also offer a handful of Macintosh equipment, but this isn't the place to look for a wide selection in this area.
If you see something that you like on Computer Geeks, you should order it immediately, as they do not carry a lot of inventory on many of the items they have on sale.
User Experience
Computer Geeks sends out a weekly email with new offers, and has started sending out at subscriber only special each week as well. This week, it was an Acer 20x/10x/40x CD-RW drive for $78. This is a very handy way to keep them "top of mind" when looking for equipment.
Prices and Shipping
Computer Geeks does not always have the lowest prices for the equipment they sell. A quick search of Yahoo! Shopping revealed that the above noted CD-RW drive could be had slightly cheaper at other sites. I will note that none of the places on Yahoo! Shopping that carried the part were top service vendors.
Computer Geeks offers a variety of shipping options from Ground to Next Day Air. As they are in California, if you choose the Ground option and you are on the East Coast, be prepared to wait at least a week.
Summary
Computer Geeks is a great place for purchasing this kind of occasionally new, sometimes refurbished equipment. It may not always be top of the line stuff, but it is always quality. Shop carefully and know what you are buying, and you will not be disappointed.
