I'm Late to the Party But...Here Are My Tips. Tip Me Off W/O

The Bottom Line Can't offer a lot of wisdom, but maybe you'll smile a little...

A much belated congrats to you, 42ENGLISH, for your 300th review! At the moment my inept fingers are typing this, the tally's up to 336. So, a second congrats is in order - for your plodding on with decorum and style.

My Tips (Such as they are)

From 1 year in Daycare & Many Working With Kids:

1. Open your favorite photo program and make a book about your daycare. You can include the kids (which may prove a quickly outdated effort, if the turnover is anything like where I worked), teachers, activities, other staff, rooms, toys, etc. Write a silly line or two of poetry or just some simple words next to each picture and insert the pages into a photo album. I cut my pages down and used a 3x5 photo album. Kids love to read about familiar people, places and things, and chances are your book will be the hit of Circle Time for weeks or months to come! A great feature of this method is how easily it can be updated. Other children's programs and parents can make similar books with equal success.

From 6 years of Missionary Travel:

1. Roll your clothes. You'll be amazed how much more efficient your packing will become.

2. Dedicate a lot of time to writing out thorough lists and stick to them. This will save a ton of time on "go day" and will likely avoid the "I forgot..." 2 hours down the road scenario. If you're staying in someone's home or with another family, a return packing list is equally as important. The generic lists on the internet are too broad. Either add to them or make your own (highly recommended).

Valuable information within Epinions: Let’s get down to the nitty-gritty:

1. Which category/categories do you write most reviews for?

Books. Can you see the worm in me?

2. Which category/categories do you write the least reviews for?

Cars, Music, Electronics, Gifts, Home & Garden, Office Supply, Sports, Cameras & Photos, Wellness & Beauty...and the list marches on. I take it slow, as does my brain, so maybe by 2010 I'll have reviewed in half of these.

3. What is the worst product you have reviewed?

The Cozy Rider by Infantino. It was in my very early days and, for some insane reason, I gave it 3 stars. But the darned thing was uncomfortable for my son and me. Could the facts that he was a big baby and I gained 60 lbs. with my pregnancy have factored in? Hmm...

4. What is the best of the best?

In Kids & Family: The Delta Millennium Crib.

In Books: Colorado Wings. I'm a sucka for romance novels with plenty of action and alpha males. Give me 4 in one book, and you've got me. Guess I'm easy that way.

5. Which was the best value for the money?

My hubby and I played the beta version of "The Sims Online" for a few months. For something so flawed and time consuming, it couldn't have gotten better or worse than free. Later, they ran 2 week long promos and I downloaded the game free from File Planet. Finally, when the game improved a bit and I was too addicted to stop (for a short while), I believe we got the game (really all we bought it for were the game codes needed to play) off eBay for about $20 less than the store price.

6. Which product surprised you most, whether it be good or bad?

"The Royal Tenenbaums". At the time, I was unprepared for the movie and I was unpleasantly surprised by it, given the actors involved. I absolutely hated it. Considering my personal changes and growth, I might find it a completely different experience now, but probably won't grant it enough time to see.

7. What is your most successful review, when did you write it and how many hits did it receive?

I'm not even wet behind my ears, in terms of review bulk. And I'm still making a name for myself, humble as it may be.
The Delta Millennium Crib review was written in '02, got a Helpful rating, and now has 4005 hits. Next to the other write off participants' highest hitters, that's a paltry sum. Almost makes me wish I hadn't answered...

Thanks, Julie, for this write-off and for lending your time, efforts and talent to the site.
