Aromaleigh.com and Aromaleigh products are really something. They have personality and pizazz that I rarely see with other small businesses that I frequent. Mostly Etsy shops, but you can be an Etsy shop and still create an impact.
I found Aromaleigh on Etsy and readily found their main site, Aromaleigh.com. I was drawn in by the pretty deep violet colors and gerbera daisy flowers strewn across the page. The website is pretty to look at, but simple in design and set-up so that it is easy to use. Aromaleigh take extra steps to assist you in your shopping adventures by including many special features, such as shop by color, where the numerous eyeshadow shades are arranged by blues, reds, pinks, yellows and golds, browns, whites, blacks and so-on. Shadow families are linked from this area to their purchase page, so you can easily compare, for example, all of the pinks they produce and find the perfect one you need.
Then, when you get to the purchase page, you have the option of viewing very realistic, professionally photographed swatches, and read color descriptions of each shade. Samples are available, so between all of this data and the chance to buy samples with free shipping, it's really a wonderful deal. Oh- you get 3 free samples with your order, too.
The website also supports a blog written by the owner, who posts regularly incorporating her love of makeup with the daily going-ons at Aromaleigh, with fashion, makeup and skincare advice, and contests that support various charities. I subscribe to the blog via my RSS feed, so I get every new post in my inbox- and I read them all. I really do enjoy this blog and it rounds out the shopping experience in a very positive way. it is a pleasure to do business with a real person and feel like you know what makes them tick creatively. It makes the products and process more special. Knowing that a small company has a real face and personality behind the products makes it a very genuine experience, and a company that you want to support.
Aromaleigh regularly comes out with new colors and products and collections, so there is never a dull moment. While big cosmetic companies have huge creative teams and such to develop their seasonal collections, it is amazing to see a small company and basically one person- come up with beautiful new colors and creative collections every month. It's even more fascinating when you realize that this is a woman just like you- with kids, and a family, dealing with lots of the same things we all deal with on a daily basis. This deeply personal aspect of the company makes me appreciate their creations and hard work all the more.
Shipping is very fast and I honestly don't know how they do it. I always receive my Aromaleigh orders (I have placed about ten so far) within 3 or 4 days of when I ordered. This is a top priority for me, as I am not patient and don't like to wait forever for something and not know where it stands. I like to order and receive it- fast! Aromaleigh consistently delivers in this area where other companies consistently don't.
I could go on and on, as you can see I've got really positive things to say about this company. The only negative thing I'm going to say is that not everyone loves or relates to the highly personal nature of Aromaleigh and the owner's up-front participatory nature on the blog, forum and other things like twitter and tumblr. Some people just want to shop and not know anything. While the Aromaleigh business model of being very personable and forthcoming is very attractive to lots of people I think it also a turnoff to some. I hope that Aromaleigh can balance the aspects of being a hands-on small business with the harshness they seem to receive from customers who don't like this. I for one, really do like it and feel that it makes Aromaleigh an extremely unique company that stands out from the pack.
I will continue to order from Aromaleigh and wish this company the best of success. I regularly recommend to friends and family and purchase gift certificates for them.
