I've patronized many beauty websites and makeup lines in my life, but I can't honestly say that anything ever made my happy and excited to try out my new makeup and wear it every day. For years, I was convinced expensive brands like Chanel and Givenchy would make me feel "special", when in reality, they didn't work so well with my sensitive skin, and they burned a hole in my wallet. So when I was turned on to Mineral makeup by my mother, who was using Bare Escentuals, I realized that there was a whole other world of makeup out there that could work for me.
After using Bare Escentuals for a few months, I realized that my skin was rather shiny and I sometimes had small patches of breakouts. My exploration for a different brand of mineral makeup then began. My online research led me to many beauty communities with great advice about mineral makeup and new brands to try.
I was excited to try Aromaleigh because they have a formula especially for sensitive skin that is dried by regular mineral makeup. It's called Glissade, and it is a formula in which the makeup particles are coated to be more moisturizing and smoother on the skin, as well as provide a protective layer between your skin and the makeup. I quickly found my color for this makeup based on the helpful advice of the women on the Aromaleigh forum. All I did was post a photo of myself with my hair, eye color and color that matched me in Bare Escentuals, and I was quickly referred to try a few different Aromaleigh shades. $10, free shipping and 3 free complimentary samples later, I had my order within a few days after ordering.
I tried several of my samples and decided on the best shade for me, which I was very lucky was on sale that week for 25% OFF! The free samples I got were actually pretty flattering shades that I could wear, and gave me an introduction to Aromaleigh's eyeshadows and lipsticks, both of which are very nice and very fairly priced. In my next order, I would try ordering some new eyeshadow and lip color samples to try.
I love that you can place small orders for samples and get free shipping and free samples. it is a great deal and Aromaleigh is generous in their samples (an eyeshadow sample lasted me for about a week using it each day, and I got about 4-5 tries with a lipstick sample) and generous in being available to ship sample orders for free, and to do it quickly.
I am always very excited now for the mailman to arrive with my sample orders, because I can't wait to see what colors work for me, and what I can get in full sizes based on that, since every week there are a lot of Aromaleigh products on sale for 25% off.
Once you start to order full sizes, you can use various free product coupons that Aromaleigh offers with various purchase levels, to get free gifts with your order, like a free eyeshadow or pigment, or a free lipstick, or free priority mail shipping (the fast service) on orders that are over $50, I believe. Otherwise, if your order is smaller, you can get your order shipped for $2.99 first class mail shipping and you still get the 3 free samples with every order.
This company has opened my up to a new world of creativity with my makeup that I previously was hesitant to enter. Seeing the very daring and creative photos posted by Aromaleigh customers each day on their forum makes it fun to visit the forum and gives you lots of great ideas. I try to be open-minded and incorporate some of this inspiration into my makeup now. I previously always wore neutrals and mattes- now I am wearing frosts and glimmers and incorporating more rich colors. And it's fun!
Website: Nicely set up, attractive and easy to navigate.
Ordering: A few steps, Paypal accepted which is a plus. Sometimes paying with Paypal takes a few tries for it to go through.
Order processing time: Almost instant. Orders all seem to go out within a day of placeing them.
Transit time: Several ship methods to choose from, postal office and UPS. Transit time depends on what you pick.
Customer Service: Easily reached from several email addresses, the customer forum or company blog. Fast responses to questions.
Special touches: Hand-signed Thank you on your invoice, orders wrapped in brightly colored tissue paper, and free samples and gifts with purchase make every order feel like a personalized present just for me. I feel like a VIP customer.
I give Aromaleigh.com 5 stars for consistent extra effort, and I would never hesitate to share with friends and family.
