After running through several Mac's, a Toshiba Portable,and two hair-raising Dells I finally had the good sense to walk into a Gateway Country Store. I browsed (with some very helpful salespeople), left, returned a few days later to another Gateway Country Store and got the same helpful service. They answered all my questions and concerns in a professional manner. They got my business for a complete package. The best was yet to come.
A few days later, my Gateway arrived. Set up was quick and easy. An MP3 player which was a "free-bee" wasn't included and when I called customer service they promptly apologized and sent it along.
It's now been going through its trial run for 4 months and I could not be happier.
Above all, however, I have to congratulate Gateway for the exceptional customer service. This company has gone out of its way to help me through a few rough software speed-bumps (they didn't have to since it was not hardware related) and have been so very accommodating that I feel like I have a pro standing by all the time. It's comforting to know that they are there and will be as helpful as they have been.
My only other comparison to customer service was with DELL -- just about the most horiffic, hair-pulling, unprofessional and revolting experience I've ever had with any customer service department! The experience between Gateway and Dell was like night and day, heaven and hell.
I would not think twice about purchasing another Gateway.
I'd make a trip to hell before I'd by another Dell.
