I thought I'd save a few dollars by purchasing a convertible crib and rails back in early May of '09. The website stated everything was in stock, so I placed the order. I noticed later that the charge was immediately applied to my credit card.
After hearing nothing for two weeks, I sent an email requesting an update---no response. Subsequent emails resulted in the same--no response. I called the Customer Service number listed on the website...I never was able to get ahold of a "live" person, just a lot of phone system juggling that asked to leave a message even though "we're in the office and will return your call as soon as possible". When I did leave messages, I didn't receive calls back.
Finally recieved an email from "Rose" who stated the crib would ship the next day. Great! Two days later, emailed "Rose" asking for tracking information...no response. Sent several emails....no response. Finally, after about a week I rec'd a call on a Sunday afternoon from "Jack" who said he was sure the crib would ship the next day. I waited another two days, then called the direct number that "Jack's" call came from. Spoke to "Jack" who told me it did for sure ship, but he couldn't find the tracking number. He said he'd call me the next day with the tracking number. You guessed it, no call. I had to call back multiple times until finally I reached "Jack" again. Jack said he would have his warehouse ship the crib today for sure, because he wasn't sure if the crib shipped from the manufacturer. He said if I rec'd two cribs, just refuse one.
So, I finally received the crib, and it's great. However...no rails, which were $100 of the total. Back to the phone dance...got ahold of "Lisa", and told her to cancel them--I'm done dealing with them. Sure, no problem, your card has been credited--no apology, just "here's your credit". So, I wait another week--the credit doesn't show on my credit card. Back to the phone hide and seek--can get NO ONE to answer the phone or return call. Finally, I contacted my credit card company (which in hindsight I should have done first) and disputed the charge. I send another email to the Minitots Customer Service address telling them the charge is being disputed---lo and behold I get two responses within 24 hours stating they've issued the credit.
It's now a week later (and late June) and the credit still hasn't shown on my credit card. Good luck Citibank, I'm done with this.
Next time I'll read Epinions before doing business with an online retailer. Here's my advice---spend the extra $50-$100 or so and buy from a trusted source. These guys shouldn't be in business, period. The hassle and time I've experienced with Minitots has more than offset any savings I realized by buying from them. I hate to think about dealing with them if there was a problem with the merchandise. Ugh.
