| arnons_1's Full Review: Epson Perfection 1250U Photo Flatbed Scanner |
After I bought an EPSON printer ( See review: http://www.epinions.com/content_47594901124 ), I decided to take a look at EPSON scanners as well. I was told that the Epson 1200U is a great scanner, but I could not find it, because it was discontinued.
So I searched for the next best thing, and then I found it.
The Epson Perfection 1250.
The scanner, in a sleek blue case, includes 4 buttons (for quick access to common tasks), and... that's it, basically.
The scanner is a piece of cake to use.
Just plug it in, install the software (or use your own), and start scanning.
The results are nearly identical to the original. The colors are the same, and so are the brightness, contrast and sharpness.
On top of that, the 1200@2400 DPI means you can take the smallest of objects and enlarge them without loosing any quality.
I took a 1.5 inch toothpick with the US flag on it (Courtesy of Fuddruckers), and scanned it. The result, came in an 1024X768 size, and included all of the tiny flaws in the toothpick and the flag. It also scans 3D objects with great ease.
The scanner also comes with a nice bundle of graphics software, and an excellent OCR program, that transformed an entire document, which was printed in Arial size 8 font and faxed 3 times, into text, with no errors.
The scanner is so easy to use, even little kids can use it.
Plus, the scanning surface is hard to scratch. Believe me, i've tried.
And the scanner will scan a full A4 paper, @600DPI in less than a minute. Quite remarkable, as opposed to my old Acer 310P scanner, which hardly worked with Windows 2000, XP.
If you choose to buy the Photo version, you also get a transparency adapter, which will assist you in scanning negatives. ( $50)
In conclusion, the Epson Perfection 1250 scanner, is a great scanner with great results for Home, Office, and even Professional users.
