I experienced problems similar to those voiced by other reviewers. The school’s administrators seem to be working hard to iron out problems. I completed an Information Technology Masters at Capella. My wife was studying at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota around the same time. Capella’s requirements were similar if not more stringent. All accredited schools have to meet the same minimum requirements.
After my Masters I entered a doctoral program at Walden. It did not go well. I ended up back at Capella. I like the school and the format. They are constantly improving. The business office is difficult to handle. If you receive re-imbursement for educational costs from your employer do NOT tell Capella. I had to involve one of my professors to resolve the matter.
You will get out of graduate school exactly what you put in. My family is full of graduates from high priced private colleges and universities like Columbia and Michigan. I’m the black sheep of the family. From my point of view the only difference between online and community colleges verses big name universities and private schools are the instructors. Kept in mind all college professors have to meet minimum requirements.
I don’t suggest substituting an online education for a real university setting if you’re entering undergraduate school. Even a community college would be preferable over an online school in this case. Graduate school is mostly writing and research so if you’re a self starter online schools are the way to go. Plus, you’ll avoid all the parking tickets colleges love to hand out.
