Pros: Easy to use, and lots of fun. The juice taste great.
Cons: May not extract all the juice depending on the fruit used.
The Bottom Line: For all the setbacks the Jack La Lanne’s Power Juicer has, I still highly recommend using this product.

| mrcrumb's Full Review: Jack Lalanne 10091 Power Juicer |
I have been house sitting for my parents as they went out on a 2 week cruise to Alaska. One of the appliances my father has in the kitchen is Jack La Lanne’s Power Juicer. My wife and I had to take advantage and use this baby while we’re at the house. We bought a bunch of carrots, apples, grapes, and pineapple to throw in the juicer. Working the juicer is a lot of fun. My wife would cut up fruits, while I shoved them into the juicer and collected the juice into a cup which would then make it into our pitcher for later use. The juice comes out the front as the remains are spit out the back and gathered in a plastic container. It truly is a magical machine; I am able to extract juice easily from any fruit or vegetable.
It was coincidental that the day after I used my father’s juicer, I saw the infomercial on television. I didn’t see all of it, but from what I saw, they managed to make a few statements that may mislead the public, i.e. they told some lies. For one, they mentioned that the juicer is whisper quiet; these people have to be deaf. Believe me, if you buy the juicer, it will make noise. It’s nothing annoying, but it’s far from quiet. Also, it does not squeeze every bit of juice out of all fruits as the infomercial claimed. I took out the pulp of the pineapple from the disposed end, and there was still a lot of juice within the pulp. Furthermore, the infomercial was passing around a bad tip when they told their audience to throw in whole fruits into the juicer. If you pack the juicer too much, some of the juice will start flying out the collection end. And if you don’t push the fruit in quickly with the plastic block, some fruit guts will fly out at you.
As far as cleaning is concerned, I hate running dishwashers, so I cleaned my juicer by hand. This does take some time. Tip: For cleaning the filter, use a toothbrush. It gets into every crevice and leaves the filter spotless.
Perhaps my last bit of warning to anyone wanting to buy this item is that you will have to purchase a lot of fruits and veggies if you are planning to juice on a regular basis. We went through tons of fruits just to fill a pitcher. It would be very nice if you grew your own fruits and veggies in your garden to use for juicing. A lot of people end up with a huge surplus of fruits in their garden when in season. Juicing is a great way to consume that surplus.
The other problem I found was that I had no idea what to do with the pulp. The Jack La Lanne juicer is going to give you a large amount of pulp, and most people are going to want to do something with it, as it is a shame to waste it. http://www.juicing-for-health.com/juicer-pulp-recipes.html has some good advice on what to do with the remaining pulp.
For all the setbacks the Jack La Lanne’s Power Juicer has, I still highly recommend using this product. The juice that came out of it was unbelievable, and the machine is powerful and can go through a lot of fruit/veggies really fast. Furthermore, the juice is great to mix with vodka; I made amazing drinks using grapes, apples, and vodka.
