I have three homes all of which I have refinanced many times. When lookng for a Good mortgage company the first thing I make sure is that they are a banker and not a broker! Home Finance of America is a big mortgage banker. I have a friend and Fannie Mae. He told me that Home Finance is a big lender that has had no problems with them. The next thing I do is to make sure whatever rate and fee that is given to me on the phone is PUT IN WRITING! Home Finance of America immediately sent me a bona fide legal lock in notice. Right away on my first loan I knew the were legit. What also is important is to find out if they do subprime, if they do don't use that company. I checked with the NJ Departmant of Banking. They said HFA does not and they told me they are a very Good, reputable company with NO COMPLAINTS! I have used them three times. They are great. Each time I use them they lower the fees for me and lower the rate if they go down. Great people to work with. I highly recommend them and I am a real stickler when it comes to finding the best bank, mortgage company etc. I use a woman named Molly Kelly there. She is the best, very friendly, always returns my calls. Three loans, no problems with Home Finance of America. Also, they lend in most states so if you have multiple properties like me, they can do them all so it is a lot easier than going to three local banks where the rates are much higher anyway.
