great review here, I am a huge movie buff myself and couldn't agree more with about 95% of your choices. Seems like you have great taste.

Haha, you're right about SNL. That's gotta be about the funniest sketch they had all year. It's iconic. I haven't seen too many of the movies on your list, but of the top two I'll say that I really enjoyed "In Good Company" - and think Topher is sooo much better than Ashton in general - and that "Batman Begins" seemed pretty good but I slept through half of it. I loved Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, though. Those guys rock. Anyway, nice list!

You might call it ramblin', but I call it fine reviewing. I have seen some of these, but the ones I haven't seen I will be looking for because of your thoughts. Great work.

14. "Jarhead" - A very underrated movie that held great performances by Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Foxx, and most strikingly Peter Sarsgaard.

....how much money I spent watching Batman Begins multiple times in the theater. Great list, and I very much agree with many of your picks.

Zen,

Great review. I will agree with you that Batman Begins was incredible. I just bought it recently, and absolutely loved it. They finally got it right. Sin City was awesome as well. The first few minutes of the movie I was thinking, am I really going to like it? It just grabbed me, and I couldn't stop watching.

I am going to have to agree to disagree with you, as I feel Munich should be in the top 5. That movie really was thought provoking, and an interesting look at Israeli-Palestinian relations. Thanks for sharing, it was a really good review. You obviously have good taste.

Nice to see "Revolver" in the list. A lot of people seemed to have mixed feelings about it, but I think it definitely deserves its place.

Yeah.. I know what you mean.. I stumbled upon it by mere accident.

It's not a movie that will appeal to all people but it is well directed and filled with unrestricted creativity.

Thanks for the compliment,

the way you set this list up with basic plot followed by why YOU liked the movie. Great choices by the way. and what is wrong with me that I missed a Guy Ritchie film (aside from Swept Away) When did THAT come out!!!?

Haven't seen any of your top ten, but a few of the runner-ups. I have so many still to watch it's not funny!

I've been enjoying watching these kinds of movies.. now that Im back to reading comic books. Even if now I feel somewhat like a nerd, nitpicking and saying things like: "That not how it was in the books!"

Thanks for the comment,

If I were making a list of the best overall regardless of personal feelings, I think I would place "Good Night and Good Luck" in the top five and "History of Violence" in the top ten. If not for this being a favorite list.. movies like Revolver, The Matador and some other would not even be close to a tops list. These are just some of the ones that touched me.. internally. But I totally agree with your comment that they would be top ten in a technical and unbias review.

Thanks for the comment,

A nice list, though for me your runner-ups (e.g. A History of Violence and Good Night, and Good Luck) are higher than anything in your Top Ten. For me, it was strong documentaries (Enron, and Grizzly Man) and above all the made for TV, but theatrically released Italian epic, The Best of Youth that capped the year's best. Anyway-- nice write-up!
