Sprint is bad news (Reply to this comment)

My friends with Sprint have since changed to AT&T or Verizon. I understood my friend's frustration as he had to borrow my AT&T phone when someone hit his car. He was less than a block away from his home and could not get a signal in Culver City, CA. Didn't have any problems with my AT&T phone so he had to borrow my cell phone to make a call home to his wife half a block away.

I had similar experiences when I was with AirTouch/Verizon as they kept saying that they were upgrading their cell towers. The constant downtime forced me to AT&T where I have been happy for the past 4 years.

I am amazed to see the approval ratings of all the service providers - it hovers above 50%. That tells you something. It also tells you that a lot of people that got a phone without any problems will not write a rewrite. By the way, most things happens for any providers, except that I don't know about the notice of changing peak hours.

You will be given time to test your reception at home and your area of interest when you join up. You should have the right to cancel if the reception is not good enough. If the service degrades in mid-term you should have the right to cancel by my book.

If you have a complain, don't bother too much about calling and writing. For me I always go to the place where I will be heard - by other customers and the local management that can compensate you. For SprintPCS that will be simple, walk straight into any of their stores when it is busy. If you look at other complains, Sprint did give out something.

For example, I argued with the airline baggage handling with no results. They delayed my luggages therefore I missed my boat. I went straight to the ticket counter plus check in area. When I arrived, a plane ticket is waiting for me before I opened my mouth. Beats the boat.

If cellular operators are bad, wait till you hear Cox digital telephone's customer service. They thought I couldn't get to them. But I went to a Cox cable show room that is not very relevant. I call the telephone guys from there and refuse to go. At the end the cable guys beg the telephone guys to do something and promise me something. At the end of the story, I got to pick from a list of exclusive good telephone numbers, plus other benefits.

I have spent almost an hour and a half on hold waiting to talk to someone from AT&T. I was hopping on switching to Sprint, but now I'll think twice. Thanks for the heads up!
