My opinions have changed greatly since writing this, but I have reasons for all of my picks.

*Doggystyle is an excellent album from a party standpoint, but it only has about two songs with any significant lyrical content. I can understand why people like it though and it probably isn't that overrated.

*De La's first album isn't my cup of tea, but I love their more recent stuff. I also think that their first album was kind of more of a stepping stone than a great album though. The rhymes are so dorky and some beats are too weird for me.

*Ice Cube's first album has grown on me since I wrote this, but it is still nowhere close to Death Certificate in greatness. I would say that it is only overrated by comparison now.

*Enter the Wu-Tang has about 6 songs that I really love and 6 that I don't. I guess that the beats are too minimalistic and the aggressive rapping is only good for certain moods.

*Aquemini only has a few good songs. Besides their last two albums, every Outkast album sh*ts on this. The beats are overdone and the rapping is too experimental and different for me.

*The Low End Theory is good, but Midnight Marauders and ATCQ's first album are way better. Too many of the songs just put me too sleep. It isn't interesting enough.

*The beats on Jeru's first album are the worst set of Primo beats ever created. I don't know why people like them so much. They are annoying, atonal and they drown out Jeru's good lyrics/poor flow.

You make a good point, but I did not articulate in this review correctly. Their style isn't my taste, but I think it could have been executed much better. On "The Grind Date" and other newer De La albums, their style was executed incredibly.

Some of these I can see why you would say they're overrated (Chronic, Doggystyle). But the rest of them I completely disagree with. And for people who say they don't like the way De La Soul raps, just because you don't like the way they rap doesn't mean they are overrated. It means, they just aren't for you.

yeah word, I do love that "Rock.Co.Flow". But I think that song really relies on the amazing production more than anything.

I hope y'all know who produced that....Seattle's own Jake-One!

"Death Certificate" is so much better than "Amerikkka's Most Wanted," so thanks for agreeing with me on that.

And in terms of De La Soul, I do not understand how people can enjoy their rapping, but I do love "Rock Ko.Kane" for the beat and MF Doom. "The Grind Date" was generally a good album.

Death Certificate is definetly the joint, I love De La though, their sh*t is very entertaining. Their one joint you gotta love is "Rock Co.Kane Flow" f*ckin bananas.

Well...I wholeheartedly disagree with some picks (36 Chambers, Low End Theory, Aquemini, Sun Rises In the East) and totally agree with others - like Chronic, Doggystyle (basically Chronic II) and AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted (I think the hype is inflated, his true classic is Death Certificate IMO). Also, I cannot tell you how much I feel you on the De La Soul joint. I cannot STAND their rapping.

I'm still going to have to give you dap for really expressing how you feel and not dickriding common opinion. Nice job...and good luck surviving some onslaughts from people that disagree.

Sorry, but this is simply my opinion. I hope I don't lose credibility from the Wu-Tang and Ice Cube albums on this list.

Look out for my underrated/overrated rappers and producers lists- they are going to be good
