What went on in Las Vegas Didn't Stay in Las Vegas!

The Bottom Line The Las Vegas Meet & Greet was an event not to be missed. I'm glad I didn't. Thanks Epinions.Com!!!

U-Bid, Ebay, Shopping.com, Epinions. In one way or another, all of them worked hard to bring a community together, but not nearly as hard as the staff of Epinions did June 17th, 2006.

I've been to 2 Meet & Greets now, and both were so much fun that the 3 hour time frame went by in just a nano-second. I barely got time to be with the "friends" I had known only in cyberspace before it was time to go.

I enjoyed House of Blues location for this summer's Meet & Greet. It is like a Hard Rock cafe in its Blues and Blues Brothers decor and items for sale in its company store. The only negative was that the House of Blues gave the Epinions party such a tiny space to play in. There was enough food for 50 people, but only seating for 8.

But the Food! Oh My Lord, what food! The chicken & rice dish was so good, I wish I could hog a chair long enough to eat my fill. But the smashed potatoes, Cesars salad, steamed vegetable medly, sliced prime rib, some pasta dishes, and vanilla ice cream over apple crisp were enough to whet my appetite for the next 24 hours or so! I was stuffed! The San Francisco Meet & Greet had tons of fancy appetizers, but I enjoyed this buffet a whole lot better.

Along with the good food, came good drinks. The really cute bartender was kept busy all through the event. I'm only about 25 years too married for someone like him, but it was fun to watch the younger women drool over him. He was like the son I never wanted, polite, friendly, and efficient with the drinks. What more could a mom want?

But the highlight was the people. I saw AdrienneFoster for the 2nd time -WoW! Those who saw her a year ago would definitely notice that she gets better looking as the years go by. I only wished I'd improved that much in 15 months. KCFoxy was like a old friend. Even though we never met, there was no "getting to know you" phase. We just jumped in like we had a conversation started in another time and we chatted almost throughout the entire event. Same with Viper1963. There's a guy who I wish I lived nearer. He's 3 years younger than my husband, so like a younger brother, but there was never any sibling rivalry. PearAnnoyed was also super easy to get along with. Both she and Dizzybint were like my at work girlfriends. It was easy to laugh with them. I also met the winner of the iPod, Krissieliz. What a nice young girl! I'm probably 25 years older, but she was so mature and friendly. I'm excited for her new life and I just met her! I met more people (like Lynus) but only on the fringes, there really wasn't enough room to move around with drinks safely. "Hi" to all those I met and forgot after a couple of Coronas.

And, while there was an Epinions Meet & Greet going on, we were being queried on what things on the site we liked, disliked and what suggestions did we want to make for improvements on the site. I'm not much of an idea person, and my biggest gripe is something they've been working on during the 6.5 years I've belonged, and that's the database. Of the last 10 items I wanted to review, only 1 was on the database. Fortunately in some categories, they've got computer whizzes for CLs, and the items get added pretty fast. That's a big improvement over 4 years ago! (Thanks Pogomom, Shantel575, & SurgRn911) The staff listened, commented, explained and paid attention to the drunken ramblings of us oldtimers.

And last, but certainly not least were the host and hostesses of the Meet & Greet. Their warm and friendly manners made meeting virtual strangers a very pleasant experience. And if getting lots of food, drinks and new friends wasn't enough, there were the Epinions logo t-shirts, towels and license plate frames, along with as many Epi-dolls as I could carry!

I would recommend that everyone try to make the next meet & greet that comes near their town. It is not only a very fun time, you also get to voice your opinions to the ears that count. You get to make a difference and party for 3 hours.
