....get any email alerts..and my email is down..so
I do not know if it is Epinions fault or the server.

I just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed reading all of your Opinions.

Thanks for reading my reviews. Sometimes Epinions has a glitch in the system regarding the email alerts. You could always use ptiemann's system:

Hope that helps.

Recommended this for a friend and worked on it to get it set up (accept XP, but put "legacy Start Menu" back on so you can navigate) - now I want one too. CDRW - for reading and writing to inexpensive and long-lasting Compact Disk media OR DVD/CDRW player - or if you order it as such, even the ability to copy data from a CD and your local hard-disk right onto a new CD you are creating - yes you can get a modular CD and a built-in CDRW or built-in 8x DVD/CDRW CD writer/player. (It only plays DVDs -sorry.)

EducateU and CompleteCare and additional advantages that make this better than just about everyone else who configures and sells notebooks.

I am eager to know if there are problems getting Dell to change an order, prior to or after receipt. dassinger email or at posted email addr."

I'm not sure what you're asking but as for the last question, I didn't change anything for my order so I can't give you an answer with that regard. I guess you'll have to contact Dell directly via the phone for the straight answer. Sorry. I can't help you there.

When we needed a new computer, we decided to go with Compaq because the price was lower than Dell. Our first computer was a Dell, but it just didn't have the memory that we needed. It was a great computer and never gave us any trouble.

This compaq though has been nothing but trouble. Thankfully it has generally been OK over the past year.

Great review, as always!

Thanks for your comments. If you have WinMe on your Compaq, it may be the O/S. Maybe consider upgrading to Win XP. But then, I've heard someone who had a Compaq that the entire computer was a lemon. No wonder why the company is so down now.
