I found TicketsNow through an ad on the Ticketmaster website, when I was unable to get through to purchase the number of tickets I wanted (I was buying for friends, as well, so we could get seats together); because of the partnership between the two companies, I assumed it was legit. Boy, was I surprised. First of all, the TicketsNow website quoted the incorrect price for the tickets, and it was only after I’d given my credit card information (there was no confirmation page, so once you enter the info, it’s theirs) that I found out the price for all six tickets was in fact the price for EACH ticket. Surprise! I was out several months’ rent. Mortified, I called the TicketsNow hotline immediately and was informed that once you enter your information on the website, the order is confirmed and cannot be canceled. I pointed out that I had never officially confirmed the order and asked to speak with a manager – at which point I was told that I’d be put on a list and called within twenty-four to forty-eight hours (I’m convinced this is a sneaky way to get around some law about refunds within a certain time frame). Predictably, I never heard from a manager. So, after calling back several times and repeatedly being told by customer service reps that a refund was not possible – and lacking any resources to pursue the matter further (i.e. a lawyer!) – I decided to give up and just keep the tickets. At least I’d get to see the show, right? Except it wasn't over yet! Included in the original price of purchase was a (not optional) $15 charge for FedEx fees. When the tickets failed to arrive on the specified date, I called the company and asked about it. They said they didn’t have any record of the order and would check on it. Again, no one got back to me. At that point, I became very worried that I was never going to see these tickets (or my money) – so, I continued to call them back, trying to get answers. Over the next nine weeks, I spoke with countless representatives, none of whom could give me anything more than, “I don’t know, we’ll check and get back to you.” The one nice thing I do have to say about the company is that – with the exception of the woman I spoke to immediately after my accidental purchase – every representative I spoke with (I stopped counting at 13) was unfailingly polite and seemed genuinely apologetic. Three days before the event and still without tickets, I called yet again and apologized for being rude but explained that I was scared that I was being defrauded and had been calling for over two months and wasn’t getting anywhere. The representative promised he would try to help me and actually called back several hours later to say that he’d found my order and the tickets were with a gentleman in Canada. I couldn’t believe it, I was so happy! He said the FedEx package would arrive the next day. Well, it didn’t. I called back yet again and spoke with another representative, who – after several phone calls and almost three hours on the phone throughout the day – was somehow able work his magic and email PDF copies to me. (So much for that FedEx fee!) I printed out the tickets and, too embarrassed to tell any of my friends the whole ordeal, went to the show entirely expecting to be turned away with counterfeit tickets. We weren’t, thankfully, and the concert was frickin’ amazing – if not exactly worth the two months of struggle that preceded it. Since this nightmare, I’ve heard and read so many horror stories about dealing with this company that I now consider myself lucky to have ever received the tickets I paid for. Which is frankly ridiculous for a business that purports to be in partnership with an entity such as Ticketmaster. For your own sake, PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO TICKETSNOW! They are dishonest scalpers, plain and simple – and for what it’s worth, you can get scalped tickets cheaper and easier by just going to the venue the night of the show and buying from someone on the street. People are always selling extra tickets on Craigslist, as well. Anything at all you can do to avoid this company is well worth it.
