Very helpful (Reply to this comment)

Really useful information for inexperienced riders on what to be expecting when they start riding in traffic.
It's just too easy to look at a great bike and think it looks like fun to ride without realizing there is so much more to be aware of if you don't want to die the first time you head out on the road.
I'm picking up tons of useful insights from your opinions. Thanks for taking the time to pass this stuff on to the rest of us.

Fine piece... (Reply to this comment)

...about staying in one piece when riding a cycle in the hustle and bustle of the city. I just might add for a rider to stay upright, he/she must develop an 'idiots' sense. That is the ability to foretell when a driver, fellow cyclist (or even pedestrian) will do something idiotic. Response time being at a minimal, if you do not react before the idiocy occurs, you'll be a fallen down rider before the first corner :o)

These suggestions are good for novice car drivers too. (Reply to this comment)

Driving in the city is quite different from riding open roads and those in suburbs. You have described the differences well.
Fine job.
