Yahoo Messenger has allot of features but it definitely is not very pretty to look at. The interface is very drab looking. Messenger is well integrated with the Yahoo portal. Therefore,it makes it easy to access Yahoo content. User can start discussions from the instant messenger.
No matter what service provider users have, there is no problem running Yahoo Messenger. It only takes 2.4 MB of RAM. Yahoo Messenger works with Windows, Macintosh, Unix/Linux, Palm and Windows CE. Aim is the AOL Instant Messenger. Yahoo Messenger takes up 1 MB less than AIM.
The interface has a Buddy list. It has icons next to each name. The default feature lets users see all the buddies names even if they are not online. This feature can be changed by choosing " Show only online friends."
Messenger has allot of features to offer users. It has voice chat which began about one year ago. It also recently started video chat to the Windows version. Users need a Webcam to use Video chat. Yahoo recognizes a Webcam. Then it allows users to broadcast a live video stream to people using Messenger. Yahoo puts out a phrase which says: "View my Webcam." Then you right click one of your buddies. Then you click "View Webcam" in the menu. What happens next is a tiny 160x120 pixel picture pops up. No other cam software can be used at the same time.
Overall, I like Yahoo Messenger. It does not look that good, but it has allot of features to offer.
