I shopped at the Dick's Sporting Goods on line web store only twice. That was really all I need to shop at it for. I have had no reason to go back to the Dick's Sporting Goods on line web store as of yet. I went to the web site pretty much because I have shopped in side of the store here in Rhode Island many times. It is a few cities over from me and I don't drive so shopping on line is some times the best way for me to shop. I figured it could not hurt to check out the site a little bit.
What they have to offer:
The Dick's Sporting Goods on line web store has a wide variety of items and products to serve their customers with. The carry a lot of fishing supplies of all kinds, bikes of all styles, sizes and colors, camping equipment, golf clubs, baseball gloves, foot balls, sneakers and clothing of all kinds, styles and sizes, most of which are popular name brands! They also offer ski equipment, sleds of many varieties, skates, all sorts of sports fan apparel and collect ables and much more. The list could go on forever really. This is not just a "Guy" type store. Women can find a lot on the site that could be useful. The apparel selection is great.
The site set up, ease of ordering and how to order:
To order on the Dick's Sporting Goods on line web store is very simple. They have a nice set up with an easy to use search bar if you know what you are looking for, or you can browse by the very well set categories and sub categories that they have. The site coloring is simple, mostly white in the back and green else where. Just like the actual store is set up pretty much. Now back to ordering.
All you need to do to place an order on the Dick's Sporting Goods on line web store is choose what you want "if it is apparel be sure to select the size". Add the item/items to your cart. Then click on your cart, double check to make sure every thing is there and that nothing says out of stock on it. Then hit the check out button when ever you are ready. You will need to enter your billing information, shipping address and payment method. The payment methods that they take are debit cards and credit card s of all kinds. I know they take more but these were the two options that I had used.
This is a secure site. They promise not to give out third party information to other companies, so you can feel safe and secure shopping on the Dick's Sporting Goods on line web store. That was certainly a big plus for me when I placed my orders with the Dick's Sporting Goods on line web store. I won't use my cards unless a site is secure and makes that promise up front.
The prices:
The prices are pretty good I must say. Nothing is expensive. But some stuff is cheap, other stuff is average priced. You pay for the quality in most of these items. They are top notch brand items. I had no problems what so ever with the prices at all.
What I have bought in first and second orders:
2 Pairs of sneakers, hooded sweat shirts, a sled, 2 fishing rods and fishing gear and accessories for fishing.
The shipping:
Now here is the down fall area. First of all the prices of the shipping are pretty average. I want to be clear on that. The faster the shipping method that you choose the more money they will charge. Just like any other site really. However, it is the speed of the shipping that I did have a problem with. I purchased six items in one shot the first order that I placed. 5 out of the six items came three days later. Right on time with the three day shipping price that I had paid for.
The 6th item did not show. I found through my email invoice that it had shipped in another box. That was fine by me. I did not end up getting that package for another 5 days. The down fall was that I paid for 3 day shipping and waited 8 days. Everything did arrive though and so I had no complaints to really worry about.
My second order I ordered 3 items. Again it shipped in two diffewrent orders because of the size of one of them being too big to fit the same box. That was also fine by me. However this time I used the standard shipping which is 5-7 business days. My first order came in 8 days..not a big deal. It only missed by a day. The second larger package did not come. I had to call after two weeks of waiting. The package was lost in transit. The customer service rep was nice to me and helped me as best as she could. I was pleased with that. My package was re shipped and this time I was given the tracking number for it. I tracked it for 6 days and it did not update in status.
Again I had to call customer service. This time I caught a male. He was also very eager to please me and was very kind and patient with the situation. Apparently this time it had been left in the warehouse and never left for shipment. They again assured me that the package was on it's way and apologized a hundred times on the phone and also through email. I was shocked when the package did arrive and the invoice had said 0.00 They gave me the large package "Which was a fishing pole" for free for the wait. But that was not all. I also found a 50% off my next order coupon in the box.
My last order was placed last Christmas. Not that I wanted to stay away, I just have nothing that I want to buy right now. I do plan on going back and using my discount to purchase gifts for Christmas. Although I will be starting this in September to make sure the stuff comes in time!
My thoughts and recommendation:
The items were all very well packaged, they came in one piece and nothing was the wrong item. I was please with how the packaged every thing tightly in the boxes and sent a return slip with my invoice in case anything was wrong. I loved how well I was treated by the customer service people. they were a huge help both on the phone and through the email as well.
To be honest. The shipping wait was not a big concern for me. As long as I got my items it did not matter. However I say if you order from them order in advance if you need an item for a specific time. I would imagine it is hard to keep track of thousands of orders, so I can't say that I blame them too much for it. The ups are way better then the downs for shopping on the Dick's Sporting Goods on line web store. So despite the shipping issues. I would still recommend the Dick's Sporting Goods on line web store.
