I just had my first experience with CVS Pharmacy Online. I have to ask, with the efficiency of sites like amazon or drugstore.com, why would anyone shop at the CVS website?
When I placed my order in Aug-2009, I didn't notice that CVS has a standard shipping policy that you will receive your purchases in 5-10 business days. After 8 calendar days, I realized that I had not received any notice that my order had shipped. I checked the order status and realized the order was still "in process".
I called customer service and they told me they didn't know what was holding up the order, because every item was in stock. They said they would send an email to the warehouse to find out why my order wasn't being processed, and I would get some kind of email followup from the warehouse the next day. But they reminded me that they only guarantee to get the product to me within 10 business days. And I guess--NOT a day sooner!
The next day, I received an email confirmation that my order had shipped. So it appears that CVS doesn't ship your order until the last allowed minute, unless you complain.
This is difficult for me to understand in a recession. A company should try to be efficient in serving customers. A customer should not have to followup on a simple order where everything is in stock.
- - - - - - Here's an update on this order. I received it on the 10th business day. But an item (vitamin C) was missing. On the invoice was printed: "We apologize for the missed item, credit will be applied to the invoice". I called CVS Online customer service, and they told me that the item was out of stock, and rather than wait for it to come in, they just issue a credit.
I asked if I would get any documentation about the credit, such as an email, and they said "no, just check your credit card statement to see when the credit goes through in 7-10 business days".
On the upside, CVS threw several free samples of unrelated stuff into the shipment. But would I recommend anyone shop at CVS Online? NO WAY! What a headache over a small order!
