I first heard of Resolve High Traffic Foam through their nifty TV ad (you know, where they show the guy lifting the area rug). The results in the ad seemed suspect at best, but I decided to give the product the benefit of the doubt and give it a try. It seemed that, while Resolve HTF might not be an alternative to a professional carpet cleaning service, the product would give a living room carpet a sizable boost in appearance and cleanliness at a fraction of the price.
To make a long story short, I am utterly disappointed.
I started out by giving my living room a quick vacuum. I then gave the can a good shake and got to work spraying the foam on the surface of the carpet. The spray nozzle thingy constantly clogged and I had to rinse it every 15 seconds of use. After much effort, I finally had my living room carpet covered in the foul smelling foam. As recommended, I pushed the foam into the carpet using a sponge mop. After a 20 minute wait and a quick run through with my vacuum, my carpet looked exactly the same as it did before. EXACTLY.
I thought that perhaps I didn't use enough foam or leave it in the carpet long enough. After all, my carpet did have plenty of dirt in it. I tried the process again, taking care to get plenty of foam evenly into the carpet, and after mopping it in, I waited 35 minutes instead of the usual 20. After vacuuming the foam out again, a sigh left my mouth as my carpet looked exactly the same as it did even before the first try using Resolve.
This product did not resolve anything. It stinks, and it simply doesn't work. I wouldn't be so critical of this product if it was called "Resolve Light Duty Carpet Foam". But any product that doesn't deliver any results that's advertised as a potent product (read: High Traffic) is just asking for a negative review.
