Buyer Beware! NSI supplements come largely from China and can have high contaminant levels.

Ease of Ordering:
The best advice I have is - Buyer Beware. I had been a loyal Vitacost customer taking a variety of their supplements and herbs. At my last physical, I had some unusual blood work results and after investigating, my doctor had my supplments sent to a lab here in Dallas and the independent lab found "some of the most concentrated lead contamination" (their words) they had ever found in herbs or supplements. The supplements with the highest level of contamination were Turmeric 18.2 mcg of lead per daily serving and Glucosamine with 28.17 mcg of lead per daily serving. The State of California is the only state to regulate contaminant levels in supplements and their legal limit is only .5 mcg per daily serving.
I was shocked at this information and upon further research found that much of the raw material used in NSI vitamins comes from China which does not have any standards for production of these substances. Remember the dog food scandal that killed many dogs and harmed the livers of countless others? That food came from China too. It's no wonder that the NSI brand is so much less expensive than products from companies to adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and who analyze contaminant levels, etc.
Now, I will only buy 3d party vitamins from Vitacost and these have to be from companies who comply with standards and testing of their product.
I wrote some reviews of product at Vitacost sharing information about the contaminated products and discovered (surprise) that they don't publish the negative reviews.
I take supplements to help my health. Unfortunately, the NSI products with high contaminant levels can do more harm than good.
