Nice all around card
Written: Dec 04 '01
Pros:Low price, decent performance, good all around video card including occasional gaming, easy driver installation
Cons:No active cooling(fan),64 bit data path memory
The Bottom Line: This card is stable never locks is an good overclocker and offers decent performance on a budget.
In my professional opinion is a buy for economy less performance demanding users.
I ve bought this video card with the intention to replace my old Savage 4 Extreme based card in idea to have a higher performance card for my new computer I was building.
I am a huge fun of Quake III witch is a very graphic intensive game and very demanding in terms of video performance, so I ve decided for a higher performance video card but value priced .
Well I can t say I was disappointed ,the card worked as a charm but for my heavy gaming just wasn t cut it, why? I am gonna tell you right now(as I am an hardware support specialist professionally).
This card is based on the second release from Nvidia called GeForce 2 chip witch comes in more flavors from low budget to high performance.
It end up as GeForce 2 MX chip was running on 64 bit data path memory instead of 128 bit this is not a bad thing unless you play games at high resolutions and color depth.
I end up buying another video card with higher performance chip(GeForce 2Pro DDR)and this one ended up in my wife's computer.
She is very happy with it,DVD movies plays flawlessly on this card as occasional network gaming between my machines.
