The cameras shipped very quickly. I would ship them quickly too just to get them out of my site.
Packaged quality: Fine
Literature: poor...amateur ...information was fragmented.
System Issues: Drivers would not load properly after the first 5 attempts.
Image quality: Extremely poor. If the person in the shot stayed perfectly still, you could not even tell they were there. They just blended into the background. If they moved, you could see "something" move, but you couldn't tell what or who was doing the moving.
Customer Service: They will take it back within 30 days, but you have to pay the shipping. And they reserve the right to charge you a 15% restocking fee.
Oh...also, you should find this very interesting...
I took it to my friend's house and had him go through the same process (just in case i did something weird). He came up with the same results (I offered no help in order to keep the outcome objective). He came up with the identical results, complete with all the issues along the way. Here's the kicker...We decided to take his web cam (Intel) and plug it into X10's equipment (i.e., take out their camera and plug in his web cam). WOW!!!! You would not believe the difference (night and day). As soon as he put his web cam in, the picture was crystal clear and the video wasn't even choppy like it was with the x10 cameras. Now what does that tell you?
Depending on what application you're looking for, I may have an alternative for you. I have since bought a Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000 ($99.00). It comes with some good software too. I have it on my desk at work for security. Here's how I use it (all software included)...I click on the option in the program to use the motion detection...
I set the camera in place...
I click "Begin Monitoring"
It counts down from 5 after which time any movement that takes place within its view is recorded and saved to your computer. It does not record continually...only when there is movement(this saves your time and drive space).
When the movement has ceased, the program saves the video clip and waits for any further movement.
So in a nut shell here's what I see when I come in, in the morning...
I unlock my desktop...
Maximize the camera program...
See if there are any files saved...
Double-click any files that ARE there...
The video plays...
And I view all activity that took place while I was at home.
These video clips are very high quality (640x480). You can tell very easily who is on camera.
Have I caught anyone doing anything? Yup...
I caught the janitor emptying my trash (lmao).
Have a great day
