Omaha Steaks web site left a very bad taste in my mouth

The Bottom Line Order over the phone if you want a steak. Otherwise, you may be eating bread and water.

The wife and I place many orders online every year at this time, and we have had no problems until we decided to buy at omahasteaks.com
At the end of the order process, the web page attempted to give us 3 quantities instead of 1 - obviously tripling the price of an already expensive steak order. We cleared that up after clicking around a few minutes. But here comes the ultimate downfall to OmahaSteaks.com
Upon completing our order (typing in the credit card numbers, addresses, etc...) we arrived at what we thought was the final screen - you know, the confirmation screen that says thank you for your order, yet some times has a confirmation button at the bottom. Ok, so we get bombarded with MORE pop up windows that lock the screen up before we can print or scroll down to decide if we've actually reached the end of the process.
The frustration level rose even higher as we called Omaha Steaks and the customer service representative informed us that we would recieve a confirmation email within 24 hours if we HAD placed an order because orders don't go into the system within 24 hours. The representative also told us that they couldn't go into the computer and check our order because if she did then we might end up with two orders ( I guess that's one less than the 3 orders their website attempted to push on us in the ordering process).
So we are left with the worse online purchasing experience we've ever had. How totally frustrating it is that the company itself can not even tell us on the phone whether or not we've placed an order. We must resort to continuously checking our email - hoping that a confirmation email arrives (or doesn't ??).
I'm sure the steaks are great, as other reviewers have confirmed. However, in todays age of online buying, the consumer must consider more than the product. And that is why I am rating this company so low. My online ordering experience was a nightmare and calling their customer service department left us clueless.
If you have a great product, your customer won't be satisfied unless you can deliver it.
