Hey Rebecca!
It's strange, a lot of films I have no idea when they were released and when I check, I find a whole slew of films I really enjoyed from the year I'm doing a top ten list for. Convenient, eh??! :-D

Yes, 2001 was a really good year (Reply to this comment)

It never fails to surprise me how movies tend to run in cycles -- some years are full of really good stuff, and other years I'm sitting there bored out of my mind. You've listed a few here that I've gotten to be fond of -- Gosford Park especially and Serendipity for the romance that it is. A Beautiful Mind had a profound impact on me, both for Nash's story, and the storytelling of it. Great list! -- Telynor

I like being ecclectic - though being essoteric can be more fun! :-d
Thanks for the comment, and may you also have much laughter (will that ever catch on as an official greeting / salutation?!?)

I think the "We Will Rock You" bit near the start blew away any illusion of it wanting to be taken seriously for me!! :-D And that dance scene... and the football (jousting) hooligans! I still think Chaucer's second speech should have been included in the film rather than a deleted scene though.

See...I got the impression that while amusing, the movie wanted to be taken seriously a little bit. ...Which was impossible for me, of course.
