My old Sony tape recorder has been a great work horse. RIP Decided to replace it with the same brand.

I was surprised to find out how lightweight they have become (the previous one being larger and heavier).
I purchased the Sony TCM-200DV at Staples. Price was $49.99. It came with two additional items - the electric adapter and one 60 min. Sony HF cassette tape and can also run on batteries. This was purchased to play a cassette tape over and over again for a Speech class while I write down someone's words and phonetically describe them on paper. So far, it has withstood at least an hour of constant "on, off, rewind ..." without breaking the buttons.
However, if I had to do it all over again, I would have purchased a recorder that can be hooked up to a computer so that I can actually hear their words on my computer, slow down the speech considerably, transcribe it, and run some additional programs.
