From the Desk of elvisdo — "Connecting the Dots" Write-Off

The Bottom Line Everything about this write-off is clear as mud... or is that my mind. Same thing.

How do you connect hermit crabs, Barq's Root Bear, paintball, Gilmore Girls, Airborne and Kevin Bacon all together? I have no idea as well, but if you can find the connection then you are ready to join my write-off.

Everybody knows how to play six degrees of separation. Wait, you don't? How old are you? How about six degrees of Kevin Bacon? Okay, we're all back in the game.

A long time ago (5 years), in a galaxy far, far away (Canada), I co-hosted a write-off with a similar six degrees of separation theme to it. I won't lie. It was a challenging write-off... challenging because it revolved around TV shows, music and movies from the 1980s. I decided to revive the concept and take it to the next level.

For the entire months of November and December, we're going to play "Connecting the Dots". Here's how it's going to work. Everyone is going to start and end with the same topics. How you connect Point A to Point Z is up to you. So let's say, for example's sake, that the starting topic is Jackie Chan and the end topic is Air Fresheners. How you connect the subjects together is going to be quite intriguing.

example:
Rush Hour — starring Jackie Chan
Disneyland — located in Anaheim, Rush Hour takes place in L.A; both are in California
Kingdom Hearts 2 — video game featuring Disney and Final Fantasy characters
Kingdom Come — a 4-issue limited comic book series painted by Alex Ross; they both have the word "kingdom"
The Normal Rockwell Museum — Alex Ross is known as the "Norman Rockwell" of comic book painting
Upromise.com — located in Massachusetts; same with the Norman Rockwell Museum
Air Wick Scented Oil Air Freshener — part of the Upromise program

And there is no limit as to how many reviews it takes you to do so. Heck, if you are that good, I'm sure you can connect the two without a problem.

But let's raise the stakes a bit and romp through Epinions-land, if you do decide you want a bit more of a challenge.

The following categories must be visited at least once in this write off:

• Wellness & Beauty
• Books or Magazines
• Home & Garden
• Computers & Internet
• Kids & Family

Not every review has to be dedicated to this write-off. But when you do one, please mark it as such. Each review should link back to the previous with a brief explanation to the connection, regardless of the obscurity to it. But that's the key... each review must connect to the next one in some fashion. When you do a review for this write-off, leave a comment with a link to it and I will add it to the long list I will compile. Hmmm, why did I just make more work for myself?

What is the point to this write-off? No point really. It's just to have some challenging, stupid fun. Hopefully, it will also get you out of your comfort zone and explore the other categories that are listed on Epinions. It's time to stretch your imagination to the limit.

Here are the starting and ending topics:

Start: any movie that has Tim Curry in it
End: any restaurant, fast food or otherwise (edited after a few people stated that they don't eat fast food...)

Oh, and if you can somehow find a connection to Kevin Bacon, then you are truly sick in the head.

And for the record, I still don't know how to connect hermit crabs, Barq's Root Bear, paintball, Gilmore Girls, Airborne and Kevin Bacon.

Clue: The Movie (a movie featuring Tim Curry)
Stratego (both Clue and Stratego are board games)
The Name is Bond... James Bond (Stratego features a game piece that includes a spy, something that James Bond does for a living as a British spy and secret agent)
Pendragon (both James Bond and King Arthur are both bloody Brits. Blimey!)
Justice League Unlimited: Season One (Mordred and Morgan Le Fay have ties with the King Arthur lore. I guess it also helps when Aquaman can be perceived as a "King Arthur")
Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys Lean Turkey Florentine with Garden Greens (with characters named Wildcat and Cheetah in the Justice League, I'm sure some cat food must be part of the diet)
Apple's Mighty Mouse (mouse=cat food)
Mac Green Gel Cleanser (Mac laptops & accessories and MAC Cosmetic products... I guess I am a Mac guy after all)
Scotland, Pa. (Mac products and Macbeth... it's all about Mac)
McDonald's (a movie about a fast-food restaurant with crimson red arches poking fun at the original golden arches... hmmm, I think there might be a connection)

williampinn (completed in 7 reviews)
Rocky Horror Picture Show (a movie featuring Tim Curry)
Band-Aid Large Adhesive Pads (these pads will come in handy if bitten by a transsexual vampire named Tim Curry)
Black Belt Magazine (band-aids will be needed to patch up any injuries inflicted by martial artists)
Johnson Wax Pledge Furniture Polish Garden Scent 12.5 Ounce (taking Miyagi's advice of "Wax On, Wax Off" will help achieve the rank of black belt)
eBay (eBay sells Pledge furniture polish)
Discovery Toys Peeks The Clown (there are a lot of clowns who work for eBay, and eBay also sells toys, including clowns)
Jack In The Box (a jack-in-the-box and Jack In The Box... hmmmm... that's a tough one)
