After several months of testing Windows XP, it appears as though microsoft has finally come out with an Operating System worth every dollar.

Windows XP is extremely easy to use, colorful, fun & the security both internally and externally are fantastic.

If you have a machine that is used by several users, all of which would like to maintain their own personal settings, layouts & files, then windows XP will really impress you. It's built in functionality for managing user accounts helps keep organization and security high. For example ...

You have 4 people using the machine, all of which want their own personal settings (background picture, text size, desktop layout, etc). You simply create 4 accounts all of which have unique passwords for each user. When one user leaves the machine or logs out, the machine goes back to the user screen awaiting the next user. When this user logs on, their profile is loaded and all the information loads up. The background images, layouts, documents & personal settings are all unique to the user. Another bonus is account restrictions. If you wish to have your users only access the installed applications and limit their functionality, you can do so when you create the account.

2 disadvantages to the Windows XP HOMe edition you should be aware of , are (a) no Netbeui protocol (existing lans do use it on occasion), and (b) it does not have the ability to log onto a domain (professional only).

For a personal computer, this operating system is by far the best solution you will find. The stability is fantastic, and it also includes a simple firewall to help keep unwanted guests out.
